Proper disposal- When you properly dispose of an american flag via burning, there is no greater form of respect. You can't display it because it would be disrespectful. You can't throw it in the trash (that would be worse), and the only other option is to bury them. I don't want my flag in the dirt. Some of the retirement ceremonies, specifically ones by the American Legion, are more reverant than church servaces. As a form of protest- Once you restrict one part, it is easier to do others. There have been too many restrictions on us already (see patriot act. ) I don't want to continue down that road.
And no, it won't stop there. Once there has been presidance for an act, the supreme court has more freedom to declare other things unconstitutional.
Ensign Riles"To me to burn a flag is Un-American" And I suppose having the first amendment taken away is American?
I bet you feel that Hate Literature should be protected by the first ammendment as well.
If you are talking about the burning as a way of retiring a flag, then I also withdraw my vote.
I couldn't care less... I wouldn't give a rats ass if our nation's flag would be used for toilet paper or burned on national television. it's probably my generation and culture.

Pethegreat3. To me to burn a flag is Un-American
Since when is it illegal to be un-american?
and what is this "patriot act" about?
DO U MEAn
ban flag burning in other countrys? If so I vote no, people have the right to exspress the views on other countrys and u cant go around telling the world what to do (kinda how that kinda thing happens anyway)
if u mean in the usa? i would be shocked if some one would burn there owns counrts flags.
BUT usa like main law is "right to free exspression" right to say what u think about people and not be suspressed etc ete, this is a way some people express there opion of the country the live in so you cant bad it with out going agnest the constotion
I didn't make it!

To you it may be just a flag, but to America our flag is a symbol of our country, and the people who died to make our country the way it is. Despite what you see on TV in Europe, America really does give its people a lot. I wish that people would learn to respect that.
that would restrain their freedom of speech and expression. wich is one of the major points of wich the USA is a symbol.
