Crazy Wolf;5403412Right? Well, I'm not sure it's a right, but it seems to work out OK for all parties involved, in the majority of cases. Especially for pets, they get a pretty sweet life in exchange for being (normally) an affection-sponge.

This is how i would frame it ''If we accept that people have the right to own animals - whether pets, farm animals or working animals then they have a responsibility to look after them. If we don't look after them properly then we should lose that right.''

I agree with these two statements.

Calling it a "right" is a bit tricky. But people should have the oppertunity/chanche to house animals for a variety of purposes, though the animals should be treated treated with fostered properly. If the animal is kept in good conditions, then I see very little reason to object.

Yes humans have the right to own other creatures not human. Where would my fish be without me ! In another fishes belly by now ! l have effectively saved lives by keeping them in a tank, which by the way is 8foot by 2 foot by 2 foot...

Tell a farmer he doesnt own the cattle he just purchased, all 600 head......l recon that;ll get you a swift smack in the mouth, hahaha.

Umm he does own them, that isn't the debate. The debate is do we have the right to own them?

Ownership only exists in our minds, technically nothing like pets or anything are bound to us, we only keep over people from enjoying them like we do.

Very true ^^

I think that as long as the animals are happy, then we have the "right" to "own" them. My families pets seem quiet happy, most of them live outside and are free to leave, but they choose not too. Seems every species likes free food. :p

The faRMER who has the paper work of ownership would argue otherwise.

Do you own a car, do you recognize who the owner of that car is via legal documentation ? Yes. Animals are no different. Humans can own them, legally. Ownership in princible has nothing to do with morals. America is at the front of ownership, its very system runs on commercialism, its capitolist enterprizes only work if humans can purchase and free title own items. Cattle , dogs, goats, any animal is in the same boat. Yes humans can own animals. In alot of countries humans still own humans........slavery is still around in the 21st century. Maybe not in the US, but thats not really the point is it. Try and take the bloke next door's dog, see what happens, and after you wake up from being knocked out, ask yourself again, did you have the right to take that animal , or does the bloke next door own it.......l can tell you l would fight for my pets, l love them and l ' own them.....

domestication has developed to the extent that many animals are now dependent on us. without us, they wouldn't be able to adapt to a wild nature, and even if they did go feral, they would be wiped out due to superior predators. how the hell would a chihuahua survive in the wild? in that, i think it's acceptable. however, when it comes to endangered, or wild animals, i'm more opposing.

Professor Dr. Scientist;5403242Do people have the right to own animals?

If they can give them a quality of life equal to, or greater than, what they would have in nature, then I dont have a problem with it.
