At least one country's press had to show a gesture of good will. I think no one else than Israel's press could have done it without lying.

History will be the final judge of a Presidency, and I think people will be surprised in 20-30 years when they look back. I don't think there is a President in the past 100 years that has had to deal with a more difficult time than Bush. Frankly, I don't think ANY President, Republican, Democrat, Conservative or Liberal that would fully know what to do when dealt with the kind of situations Bush had to deal with. Not to mention every media outlet on the planet was automatically out to get him regardless of what he did. The man just couldn't win.

Don't forget the U.S. presidents who had to deal with the Cold War. And the proxy wars during that time. I think there had been no other U.S. president before damaging the reputation of the United States in such a horrible way.

I wouldn't blame him anymore if he had stepped down after his first term of office. I think he is not a bad person but he was an extraordinary bad president ruining the American reputation worldwide.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Harry S. Truman. Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Yeah, you're right. These guys had it easy.

In a way they did. They had a clear cut enemy that everyone acknowledged as the enemy. They didn't have the media in their own country trying to thwart their every effort at every possible turn. The rest of the world (minus the enemies) was behind their efforts instead of against them.

They had tough Presidencies, I would never say they didn't but they didn't have to put up with all the underhanded partisan bullshit Bush has had to put up with. EVERYTHING gets blamed on him, whether he had anything to do with it or not. This mortgage crisis is a great example. The main cause of the problem were policies set in place when Jimmy Carter was President yet because the world loves to blame Bush for everything he has to deal with it when the shit hit the fan.

The rest of the world (minus the enemies) supported US efforts unless they attacked a country (Iraq) that had nothing to do with 9/11. Besides the UK and some other countries I forgot that are still fighting in Iraq in addition to the US forces.

Hmm.

Born into a rich family. Apart of Skull and Bones. Went AWOL. Pretty much avoided military service, yet is a hawkish hypocrite. Goes balls deep into Iraq for dubious reasons. Suspends Habeas Corpus Supports a War on Drugs, whilst somehow allowing Alcohol and Tobacco to be legal. It's either all or none. Is a businessman and I'm pretty sure he had some shady deals behind closed doors. Apart of the conglomerate, special interest, lobbying gangbang. Has smeared the name of the nation through poor foreign policy.

The man couldn't win because he was/is a hypocritical, lying, unapologetic douche. End of argument.
