"The O'Canada Factor"

Frankly I'm a little disgusted with what Bill O'Reilly has to say about my beloved homeland in his first televised appearance on Canadian airwaves, the local Toronto Star provided its readers with a transcript of the show.

I dont think I've ever read such a one-sided piece of sh*t in my life. I'm going to have to keep down my profanity and utter anger for this to stay in the Pub, because I want to talk about this. Here's a few quotes I'm pulling out of the article:

Bill O'ReillyCaution, you're about to enter a no-spin zone. The Factor begins right now...

Bill O'ReillyItem: Al Jazeera was okay'd to enter Canadian homes before Fox News. What does that tell you? Fair and balanced? You decide.
This is completely ignoring the facts of Al-Jazeera in Canada. It was forced to be heavily censored due to lobbying on the part of the Canadian Jewish Congress who feel its a source of hate. Also it neglects to mention that Al-Jazeera is not widely aired here for the fact of its censorship and possible lawsuits that could come from any 'disrespectful' reports it may have, thankyou again CJC.

Bill O'ReillyItem: In April 2003, Canadian authorities said they would not give Saddam Hussein to America if they caught him first. They said — get this — they would turn him over to an international body.
The 'international body' spoken of here would be the International Criminal Court, in hopes of avoiding a blatantly obvious show trial if done by Americans and Iraqis. I stand by this, bringing him to the ICC would mean justice, not revenge.
Last time I checked, Americans make 40 million visits to Canada a year. We spend upwards of $10 billion and this doesn't even include all the hidden taxes those communists levy on us as we're leaving their land of igloos and left-wing defeatism.

Neglects to mention that Canadians visit the US just as much and spend just as much there. What ticks me off even more in this blurp is the taxation he mentions, he completely ignores the fact Bush raised a massive tax on Canadian softwood lumber that has left Canadian lumber companies losing a lot of money. Also, these tariffs he placed on our lumber were even deemed illegal by the WTO and NAFTA. I wont even get into Canadian beef or the part about igloos
Canada needs America. America does not need Canada. As soon as both countries realize this, we can start the healing process. We can, hopefully, forgive Canada for its strange and outrageous behaviour in recent years. Clearing the way for Fox News is a good start and a positive sign. And that's the memo...

Neglects to mention that Canada is the US' largest and most important trading partner, something every American president [minus Bush] of the past 100 years has realised. America needs Canada as much as Canada needs America. Shall I mention Norad, without Canadian cooperation, America would have been vastly weakened versus the Soviets in control of the skies [dont believe me, kick yourself]. Canada and America were the best of friends prior to Bush, now look at our relationship. There are simply many things that have proved our friendship over the past 100 years, yet Bill O'Reilly can only think negatively.

O'REILLY: Are you suggesting a military invasion?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O'REILLY: Look. North Korea and Iran are our new priorities. But Canada needs to proceed with caution. No more whining about softwood lumber. No more diseased cattle. Otherwise, regime change may be our only option.

Regime change? And he's talking about Canada? Look who's talking
O'REILLY: NO, YOU SHUT-UP! I bet you secretly love Canada, you narcissistic piece of garbage! You deserve to rot in hell, you filthy scumbag!

Words cannot express what anger I have for this so-called 'civilised' 'man'.

------------------------------

What do you all think of Canada and/or Bill O'Reilly's obviously right-wing skewed ideas?

Well, even if we dismiss this report as a complete lie, which I'm not, we still know that this is the way many Americans feel about Canada. The statement "Canada needs America, but America does not need Canada" is a lie. If Canada all of a sudden disappeared off the face of the earth, America's economy would collapse. Canada is our biggest trade partner.

Well, it seems he has done his job, to get to you. Most of the stuff he is saying is just to stir people like you up. I would guess that he probably doesnt mean much of what he is saying.

Also, I bet there are Canadian shows that do the same for America, just with a Canadian slant.

O'Rielly is garbage, but he is so much better than someone like Limbaugh or Moore.

As a Canadian, I can safely say that there arent many Canadian shows that blatantly attack the United States with unproven and one-sided 'talking points' like Bill O'Reilly. There are though, satirical pokes at the American government, but nothing as revolting as this. The only exceptions I can think of are This Hour Has 22 Minutes' former piece "Talking to Americans, which was basically asking Americans about Canada, which they couldnt be able to answer, they would change the PM's name or suggest that our Parliament is a large igloo and see if Americans believed them. The other example is the recent controversy of Carolyn Parrish, former Liberal MP who called Americans bastards, Bush a moron, and the Coalition of the 'Idiots', she was kicked out of the party for obvious reasons, she pissed me off. Other than that there is very little on Canadian television thats blatantly anti-American.

I say that Bill can do whatever he wants, even though I don't agree with him. If he wants to get shot, I won't stand in the way.

“O'Reilly takes on O'Reilly in our fantasy debate” he didn't really say that, they made it up for comedic purposes, most of the stuff sounds like something he would say but he didn't say it so I wouldn't post it as if he did. He has never called the Canadians "communist" and he would never tell anyone to "rot in hell" on his show, he is however full of himself and thinks everyone is entitled to his opinion which is usually wrong but when he is right he well never let you forget it! I am not a fan of Bill O'Reilly but if you’re going to quote him actually quote him! [O'Reilly shatters mirror. He can be seen rocking in his chair while laughing maniacally as a "We Are Experiencing Technical Difficulties" banner flashes on the screen.]
