Thats what i mean. They use it against EVERYTHING. My sister was sued for racism. She went on a blind date with a black guy, and she isnt attracted to black guys. They aren't her "type". So after the date she told him that he wasnt her type and he sued her for racism. (He didnt win of course)

Karst;3393055The Roman Empire collapsed and plunged Europe into the dark ages. The British Empire collapsed and plunged 99 % of the former colonies into poverty. Just because they influenced the future, doesn't make it good. Hitler and the Second World War influenced the world today, that doesn't mean it's good it happened. This was definetly not the rule. The British Empire was built on the principle that the British people were superior to the rest of the world, and that their culture should be imposed on all.

You have excepted everything you were taught in school and/or college without questioning any of it haventyou? You views reflect the fact that you are the product of an educational system which teaches that white=bad and that multiculturalism is a dream world which everyone should strive for. If you are white than you are suffering from a serious case of self-hating "white guilt" which is programmed into whites all over the western world. As for colonialism look at Africa(sub-saharan) and tell me which part is the most advanced and has the most hope for the future. Its the parts that were colonized by the British and other whites. It is my opinion that colonialism is the most interesting, magnificent, and misunderstood aspects of European history. Many many many years from now historians will marvel at the rugged, courageous europeans that risked all and sailed to distant lands to carve out new homes and future empires.

All of sub-Saharan Africa was colonised. All of it's a shithole. Then, as now, the only difference it isn't covered up much any more.

Colonialism will leave its scars for centuries.

Tolerance and anti-racism must go both ways: it's not just that it's wrong to insult foreigners but it's also wrong from these to pull off racism card at many unrelated cases and insult the native people. If you move to a country, you will follow its laws and respect its values, even absorbing some of them.

it's stupid to go to a country and not even think about obeying its laws. but there are people who do that, and then theres others that claim discrimination and racism if they like get a prank pulled on them like that firefighter.

he tried to sue a whole city for what 4 people did to him claiming it was racism, but i don't see how when they all played pranks on each other.

GOW-Sephiroth;3394973I dont hate black, or white people. But why do African Americans freak out when we talk about the KKK? When black people talk about the Black Panthers, white people dont go crazy. Dont you think some people are over-abusing the idea of "Racism"?

You've got to be kiding. The two aren't alike at ALL. The KKK are nothing more than terrorist.

The Roman Empire brought about more than a century of peace in their part of the world, and introduced modern law, culture, and technology all Over Europe. Even though the empire eventually fell, these ideas were preserved by the Church, and were eventually reintroduced once things restabilized. The Medieval and post-Medieval cultures we all know never would have been possible without the Roman Empire. Same goes for the British Empire. The people in these colonies were naked huntergather/warriors with no knowledge of superior agriculture, technology, writing, and the hundreds of other benefits of modern civilization. Without empries like Rome and Britain, they might never have gotten these gifts. Yes, many of these places are screwed up, but that is their problem. We give them the tools - its up to THEM to decide how to use these tools.

This was definetly not the rule. The British Empire was built on the principle that the British people were superior to the rest of the world, and that their culture should be imposed on all.

That's exactly why intelligent native people were educated - so they could learn about modern government, law, etc., and then bring it back to their culture. As you can tell from books and movies made in the 50s and 60s as the colonies were being set loose, Western leaders had very high hopes in these educated native leaders. Its a puzzle up to this day why so many of them failed - some element was missing somewhere.

All of sub-Saharan Africa was colonised. All of it's a shithole. Then, as now, the only difference it isn't covered up much any more.

Colonialism will leave its scars for centuries.

I hope you're joking. Its no worse than it was before they were turned into colonies. We gave them the opportunity to become great, but in the end its up to the horse to decide whether or not to drink.

The anti-colonialism backlash is, in my opinion, a state of self-denial. We're shocked by the appalling failure of the modern governments we left behind in these areas, so we're blaming it on an easy target - dead white guys.

I have to disagree on your last statment...

These places in Africa aren't the same as they were before the colinization...certainly not as messed up.

The difference is that they didn't want to stay in the colony as did the people who colonized America. America had a reputation for the free...it was advertized that way. However...Africa was stripped... and noone cared what they did with it afterwards
