Not anytime soon, and not in our lifetimes as far as I know. One day it will be possible, I would like to see it happen, but doubt I will before I die.

I don't see such a feat ever happening in any of our lifetimes, unless scientist make some sort of revolutionary finding, in which it would be possible. Like maybe they discover a whole new type of power that was not possible to obtain before. Edit-Someone keeps giving me a ton of points, but I have not seen anyone donate me anything.

Of course it's possible. It's just that nobody has enough spare time to try it :D. Seriously, that's probably all you need. Speed, and some time.

And advanced technology. I mean how can you attain that kind of speed? If we had new technology then we will see.

 I assumed that much was self-explanatory. No, Genocyde, I propose we fire them to another galaxy in a giant catapult!

And how can you get the technology when no one puts forward the cash for some hard-core space research? Its really too bad, space doesn't get enough attention these days. Maybe we need another space-race to advance us in technology?

I think we do need to spend a LOT more money in space research. It would be so cool if we found life on another planet. Much cooler then the rest of the shit going on in our world right now. "And today on the news, Mukafa Al Shazeen blows himself up, killing 5 Iraqi children in the process." "Bush sucks-Michael Moore." "Buy my new book-Bill Clinton." "WE FOUND AN ALIEN SPECIES ON PLANET HELIOS!!!!""!!!!!""!"!!"@!"

Some people believe that not only would it be 'cooler' than some of the 'shit' going on down here, but it may put an end to it. I partially agree with that, I would just like to add that it would create a whole lot of new 'shit' as the idiot masses go on a panic spree. We need to invest more in space exploration for the simple fact that we demand more than the Earth's resources can provide. Aliens would just be a nice bonus :D. I still doubt that we'd stand any chance of communicating with them. They're called 'alien's for a reason.

I read somewhere, probably National Geographic that there is some rare compound on the moon, Helium 3 from which any colony on the Moon could benefit from. By-products of Helium 3 are oxygen, water, and hydrogen, the three basic things needed to sustain human life, provided the right equipment is in place.

Meeting extra-terrestrials would be quite cool, we could probably learn a lot from them if we ever came into meeting with another species.
