The first story deals with a Baptist Minister from Tempe, AZ prays that Obama dies and goes to hell. Also, ranting about "socialism" and other such bullshit. These cunts want a one-party theocracy in America. I'm sure of it.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

The second story deals with Ahmadinejad's Imam who says Islam allows raping and torturing of prisoners.

Two men out of billions. But it's fuck all pointless argunig with either of you. You'll continue to be as hypocritical as always. Complaining about how violent religion is, how backwards it is, how racist or prejudice it is. And then turn around and spew out hatred towards all religious people on the basis of the few, complaining about just that thing.

I have to agree with Afterburner (although I'm probably guilty of the exact same thing :(. I try not to be.). Religious extremism is bad, but it's just that. Extremism. It's not a mindset shared by the majority of believers.

Religions were created for one purpose and one purpose alone. Not enlightenment. Not spirituality. Not morality. Control.

Have the clergymen rope in the citizens with promises of salvation and forgiveness. And then strike fear into their heart that if they don't abide by such scripture, they will be sent straight to hell for eternity. It is cruel and unusual abuse for the body and the mind. Fear your congregation into believing.

Dr. Awesome;4995552 Anyways, religion has served its purpose, its time to do away with it, it's no longer needed.

Just because you no longer feel the need for it doesn't mean that others feel the same way. Banning religion seems like the flip side to making religion mandatory. Either way it's pushing personal beliefs on the public. I don't know, maybe that's how all laws are...

The religious establishment perhaps was, yes. Religion as a concept, however, was not. I'm not the greatest fan of organised religion, but I'm not going use rhetoric such as "religion is the cancer of the world" because a few extremists use similar rhetoric about other people/places/establishments/whatever.

The two men in the post have influence. The pastor may have a following of between a few dozen to maybe a few thousand people. The imam has influence in the policy of a country of about 100 million people. What was just 2 people is now hundreds in the case of the pastor, and 100 million in the case of imam. Not everyone will agree with their views, but you will have nutcases of the group who will commit violence and justify it with their holy book of choice.

Mesbah-Yazdi answered: "The necessary precaution is for the interrogator to perform a ritual washing first and say prayers while raping the prisoner. If the prisoner is female, it is permissible to rape through the vagina or anus. It is better not to have a witness present. If it is a male prisoner, then it's acceptable for someone else to watch while the rape is committed."

Say prayers while raping someone? I have heard of killing in the name of God, but not raping in the name of God.

If the religious moderates spoke up more often and condemned acts of violence committed in the name of religion, certain people would not have as much of a problem with religion. But the media does not make money off of good news. "20 dead in Iraq" gets more viewers than "Soldiers hand out candy to Iraqi children"

Funny... There's enough religion to inspire hate and war, but not peace.

That minister needs to be punched in the face.

Here's a good quote, from Kingdom of Heaven. Very poignant:

I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here (points at head) and here (points at heart). And what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not.
