Well, after days of senators talking and talking and talking, his nomination has gone to the full senate, and it looks like he will be our next Supreme Court Chief Justice........
and to please those left wing cooks that think fox lies and makes up stories

Discuss your opinions on this and Roberts.......... try not to make it into a melee shoutfest
Well, let's see what will follow. I would have liked to see Democrat as new member to the Supreme Court to balance the table and increase cooperation & mutual understanding between the Conservatives and Liberals.
to balance the table
you do know that it is favor of liberal, and has been for a while.......Roberts will help balence it, not adding a democrat.....that would unbalence it even more
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.you do know that it is favor of liberal, and has been for a while.......Roberts will help balence it, not adding a democrat.....that would unbalence it even more
Ouh, I have lived in a belief that the Conservatives have ruled the Supreme Court for sometime :uhoh:
nope, if they did, we would not have had that ruling basically stating that your Land means nothing.......
because of the libs running the court, the gov't can now take your land, no questions asked and build a damn walmart, or anything thing they "say" will further the economy, if your family has lived in that house for 200 years, or 2 days.......doesnt matter
RelanderWell, let's see what will follow. I would have liked to see Democrat as new member to the Supreme Court to balance the table and increase cooperation & mutual understanding between the Conservatives and Liberals.
With O'Conner leaving and Rhenquist dead, the court is definatly biased towards the left right now. The Dems have Soutor, Ginsberg, and Breyer. The Republicans have Scalia, (woot) Thomas (a black conservative? woah...), and Kennedy.
Now, I know what you're thinking. First off, Soutor was appointed by a Republican (Ford) but he turned out to be a complete liberal. Second, Clarence Thomas is not nearly as strong of a conservative as Scalia or Kennedy. He is more, how should I put it, slightly right of center.
But Scalia could pretty much counterbalance the liberal half.
Look at him! He could be an actor on The Sopranos!
Souter was a joke, at least Roberts and whoever Bush picks for Oconners seat will get things going in the right (HA!) direction
Ha! I was going to make a thread about Roberts a while ago but figured there wasn't enough material and it would just be a lib-bash fest.
Did you hear some of the inane reasons why Democrats were saying Roberts wasn't qualified:
"he has had too good of a life" -uhh...
"he's been too successfull as a lawyer, he won't be able to detach himself from cases" -...so? thats the case with every justice, usually the first to years they are "detaching" themselves from cases.
"he's racist because he wrote the term 'illegal amigos' in a memo in 1980 and didn't apologize" -good. I wouldnt apologize for that shit either.
oh it goes on. I'm sure USMA and STALKER have all these stashed away in their war chest.
there are some good ones, i love the double standard the libs have......
when ginsberg was up for nomination, she didnt answer a lot of questions, yet.......they half crucify Roberts for not answering the same questions, hell Teddy "Run'em Over" Kennedy is the one that told ginsberg that she didnt have to answer questions, yet he is one of the ones that insist Roberts answer all questions, they are asking what kind of father he is!!!!
This political bickering needs to stop. If a Democratic president was in office, a liberal judge would go in place. And vice-versa. That's just the way it's going to be, unless the guy is an absolute douchebag unfit for the position (*cough* Dubya , *cough* Kerry). This is almost as bad as Ken Starr dragging out the Clinton investigation...
