I'm sure you all hard the rumors of the CIA having secret prisons located in former soviet prisons in Poland and other countries. This why thy could "bypass" international and national law and do whatever they want to th prisoners (it is said that they house top ranking terrorists).

What do you believe of these rumors? Can they be true or is it a weak attempt to make the USA (Bush adminstration) look bad? If there were indeed secret prisons to bypass national and internatiol law would you still find it justifid in the name of (inter)national security or is it unacceptle? Any other opinions or comments?

The reason why I came up with this now is because I spotted the following cartoon in yesterdays local newspaper (Leidsch Dagblad):

Only yesterday I read about a suspicious prisoner transfer from Germany to somewhere else supposedly conducted by the CIA. Several politicians (from Germany and Austria) demanded an explanation. So I think it is very probable that the CIA has secret prisons.

As for the justification, I don't think anybody deserves to be tortured and that international law should be followed by all states, however, in case of terrorism it is sadly true that torture is the only means to get information which might save a lot of innocent people. Lets just say that I'm happy that I am not in the position to decide about this :)

Yeah murderers should get to live a lavish life with food, water TV and basketball. Oh wait, they already do:rolleyes: I'm sure we have secret torture locations, and they are called secret for a reason ;)

I'm all for torturing terroists and murderers. Human rights are for humans.

I don't consider a life without TV and basketball torture.

So if a terrorist tortures an American he is not a human, but if an American tortures a suspected terrorist for revenge he still is?

Please tell me you are not comparing them animals to us? We torture for information to save lives. Would you like to guess why them animals torture? Go ahead, take a stab at it.

├čeef Flapswhat?

I talked about torture as in "say goodbye to your left hand". Not as in "you don't get to watch your favourite TV-show today".

Please tell me you are not comparing them animals to us? We torture for information to save lives. Would you like to guess why them animals torture? Go ahead, take a stab at it.

I am not comparing you to a terrorist. If you torture someone because you suspect him of being a terrorist you don't torture to save lives, you torture to find out if you where right with suspecting him. What is more, I don't think that a crime is justifiable just because the criminal is certain that he is doing it for a good reason. Sure, the CIA might save people with torturing but a terrorist could use the same argumentation ("we kill all Americans so that they stop invading our countires which will save lives of innocent civilians").

I wouldn't mind if Osama Bin Laden or Zarqawigets tortured after what he cost us(spent hell of a time refuting millions of allegations). They generally piss us off and only the unlearned support them.

Rember, the CIA no longer has secret prisons in Eastern Europe. They are no longer secret, that is...
