Afterburner;3642794 How about we ban baseball bats and golf clubs. After all these are commonly used weapons in assaults and murders and they serve no purpose other then amusement.

No, unfortunately the guns loose on this argument since they serve no purpose other than to kill.

False, many people use their firearms for recreation such as target shooting, trap shooting, and skeet shooting.

Not to mention collecting. Hell, it's also an Olympic sport.

A gun's design is to kill. Cars are designed to get you from A to B but many are used in racing and collecting.

I heard about this, and I was shocked, and well...

I don't see it as a tragedy, you know how many people die a day? these 32 are nothing. Just like 9/11, a few thousand die, that's less than people do daily, but just because it happens in AMerica, the entire country has to stop and go "No...people died...how horrible, let's all mourn and be sad for awhile"

While a few thousand die off every day, stuff like this geting a news article is a joke.

It's not even a big deal, I actually respect the kid for what he did, in some weird sense.

Not all are designed to kill. There are many firearms that are used for precision shooting and target shooting that are designed for that one purpose.

doesnt really matter what its designed for if its used to kill anyway does it? i didnt hear about any calls to ban fertilizer after the Oklahoma city bombing, yet that killed more people at once than any shooting. guns are used in competition and collecting as well. there are actually very few guns out there designed specifically to kill people, and very few of those are actually easily available to civilians. and most of those still are decades obsolete to the military. another thing people in other countries might not realize either, is that in America some people still live in places where being attacked by dangerous wildlife is still a big concern. if a bear decides you would make a nice lunch, having a powerfull enough firearm is pretty much the only way to be sure youll survive unharmed. sure, you could do all you can not to provoke an attack, but that doesnt work every time. i dont think the comparison of guns to cars is lacking at all. a much greater percentage of people with cars use them to break the law and do things that result in people dying than gun owners do with their guns. you just hear a lot more about the few people who do it with guns because of media sensationalism. and banning cars and forcing people onto public transportation? sorry for OT, but thats the worst idea ever. the purpose of the book 1984 was to warn people of the dangers of increasing government control over people, not a list of suggestions. im glad you dont live in my country with those views.
