Prostitution is a fact, it has always existed and will never go away. It doesn't matter how you feel about it. Therefore I believe it is important not to forbid prostitution, but to organize it better, otherwise the problems will only become greater. If somebody chooses this profession for him or herself, and works in a responsible and healthy way, there absolutely doesn't have to be any problem with prostitution at all. Because there are problems, it is the task of the government to regulate prostitution in a proper way, so that we can learn to live and let live and respect each other's choices.I am not blind for such big problems as forced prostitution and venerial diseases; but you can't solve these problems by banning it. On the contrary you solve them by better regulations concerning working conditions, safety and hygiene. Problems like forced prostitution don't have anything to do with the profession as such, but with the mentality of society today. I think the biggest problem is changing that mentality in relation to how we get on with each other as human beings. So basically put, I think prostitution should be allowed, under strict government control. The girls, and guys, should be given regular checkups for diseases and things.
Prostitution will continue to happen, no matter what the government does. It is a fact of life. Women, and men, have been selling their bodies for money for the longest time. Instead of making it illegal, we need to make it more safe. I don't see the point in trying to stop something that is unstoppable.
I guess it should be legal. but only because it would bring down rape cases I suppose.
MihailI guess it should be legal. but only because it would bring down rape cases I suppose.
The only reason I think it should be legal is because it is better to have safe prostitutes who are being checked and regulated so they are not raped, then have illegal prostitution where they have many nasty diseases, and rape is common. It is better that way.
Yeah. And murder should be legalised so that the government can ensure that the victims enjoy quick, painless, stress-free deaths :uhm:. It's illegal for a reason. It's also immoral, not that anyone seems to care anymore.
It's not immoral. It's just the "man" telling you that it is.
Mr. MattYeah. And murder should be legalised so that the government can ensure that the victims enjoy quick, painless, stress-free deaths :uhm:. It's illegal for a reason. It's also immoral, not that anyone seems to care anymore.
But think about this. Prostitution is unstoppable. It is also hurting our society, by spreading around STD's. What is better? To allow these people who have no other work to spread diseases and become rape victims, or to arrest them? And prostitution arrest isn't as high as you think. Most work underground. It would be better to have them in prostitution houses, where they are under a safe environment. They have these places in Arizona. The girls, and guys, are regularly checked for diseases. They are safe in the house. No creeps can rape them.
Most crimes are 'unstoppable'. Doesn't mean we make their lives easier by legalising it and helping them. It's their own choice, if they can't deal with the consequences, it's their own problem.
Actually we should make prostitution easier for them. Want to stop the STD's spreading around? Not to mention that police and the government spend more money a year tracking down prostitutes than it would cost to pay for these houses.
I agree,
btw did our MSN convo of yesterday inspired you to post this thread and the "nudity in public" thread? we coincidently discussed these two topics too...
Yes, prostitution should be made legal (if it isn't already). Here in Holland we have special places for prostitutues to go, they are specially designed like parking lots where you can pick a hooker, park your car and do your thing. We also have (legal) whorehouses, but these are legal in almost every western country, aren't they?
Legalising prostitution makes it saver for obvious reasons: we can check if things happen safe. This is also why we in Holland have a toleration policy on softdrugs: you can buy softdrugs in coffeeshops without being afraid of getting caught by the police. The goverment makes sure that the coffeeshops follow the guidelines so that the coffeeshops will only sell quality drugs. This policy works fine and i think therefor think that we should apply this to hookers aswell by naking prostitution legal.
...WTF is happening to the world? I'm out of this thread before I say something I regret.
