Mr. Pedantic;4846493..And I have a question. In which dimension is the universe inscribed on the inside of a sphere?

I don't know the name of it, but it's all yellow, vast empty yellow open space, and the sphere is actually a kind of big white table/bowl with the universe inside it. Reminiscent of a large toilet bowl without the flush tank, actually.

I guess I take that as 'you don't know'?

Hence the "I don't know" preface to my previous utterance, yes.. You're asking about other dimensions, what answers are you looking for; is the 'inscribed on the interior of a sphere' part of a mythology or something?

Thousands of people far more intelligent than ourselves continually try to figure this question out without success, and have done throughout history. At the end of the day, the only answer that really matters, and that can't be refuted, is this: it's so frickin' big that it doesn't really frickin' matter where it ends.

Shape of the Universe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia That should give you an idea of how your question is answered. Just as a warning there are some inaccuracies in that article so don't take it as fact for the whole part (but that little segment is fine).

Even if it existed, at that scale, The entire system would be about 1.6x10^-10 pixels across.

NiteStryker;4853201oOo so the universe is expanding like grass expands in a field (there is space for everything, stuff is just filling it), versus a definate end to our universe like a wierd ass portal or something?
Like the game Asteroids, you'd just end up on the other side, muahahahaha... *brain fries*
I like Red Dwarf's idea: Explode stars in sequence to spell out advertising in the sky

I can see Buy 'n Large of Wall-e going through the trouble of trying just that. =p

clan.necrosect, I'll get your post at a later date.

Don't mock meā€¦

How can you possibly see the "Yavin" system. Those little white dots are 'galaxy clusters' so there is no possible way you can even see Individual Galaxies let alone planetary systems.

Not only that, the Yavin system is fiction though the Star Wars Galaxy may be in one of the voids if it did exist.

If you want to find maps of the known universe, google.

And to correct myself earlier, That map is only 7% of the known Universe though is shows my point about the voids.

This is the map of the Entire Known Universe: universe.gif

Note: Within the Virgo Supercluster is where we are.
