Yes it's true. I was looking up USA recent military advances and I just happened to come up on this. It said that the United States Marine Corp was moving forward in deploying there forces from space. I belevie this would be a very good tactical advantage. It would not only be demoralizing(think about it somthing comming at you from space) , but it would be easy to resopond to a hostile area(like another country on the other side of the world) in a matter of minutes instead of hours or days. There are some downsides of course such as Marines beinging stuck together in space to long, and the landing zones being way off. But over all I think the good outweighs the bad. Let me know what you think.:)
Heaven's gonna burn your eyes

You've got to be joking.
Unless they intend on deploying 5 Marines at a time at ridiculous cost. A couple of billion dollars just to get a handfull of troops into an area in a few hours insyead of a day or so? Not worth it.
Mmmm, No that's too wierd.
I'm way cooler than n0e (who isn't though?)

hahahahaha thats funny. How many troops are they going to be able to deploy? how do we know that country wont just shoot them on the way down? where are they going to live up there, and for how long? food? weaponary? munitions? trainning? how expensive is it going to be? there is also gonna need to be alot of trainning for them to be astronauts..you dont just walk into a space suit and climb up the atmosphere like that.
ofcourse there wont be any vehicles..what are they going to land in? HOW? I dont think anything can land safely on ground form space..and I mean an airstrip of some sort..the enemy isnt gonna build you a landing zone for your troops are they?
Any link? this dosent sound plausible.
Ha this is a great joke...It reminds me of that James Bond film MoonRaker.
Also who gave permission for the americans to colonize space for military purposes?
Still....this is a great read none the less
Also, if they are stationned in space, chances are that their muscular weight will take a drop and they will be feeble little adults back on the ground.
Yes, deploy them HALO (the game) style, all they need is a few spartans and those terrorists are done for!
I didn't make it!
Yea its a joke in this era, but give it a few or more decades, and the very idea of not having military ships/craft and personel in space will become scarry, china is comming dont think they are not thinking about the highest ground also, its not believable now, we are no where near ready for this , but the idea behind it is, and when you look at how fast we have advanced, the sky is the limit, it will all come, the cold war was enough to teach us that. The first ''comando troops'' l believe to go up there will not be marines in the sence, but rather engineers, to destroy or capture enemy satilites. This is plausable, stealing tech is high gain espeonage. [forgive spellin im lazy]

I read about something similar once. Apparently the US-airforce experimented with a flying disk which was supposed to be launched to very high altitudes (/a low orbit), then drop back down over the target and deploy troops. The whole thing was cancelled because those disks flipped over all the time.

I would join, have my body mutated, and then face certain death just to do that:naughty:.
The airforce wants to build a bombers that could go in low orbit and drop bombs. They could launch from the US and be somewhere like Iran in 2 hours. I can see this being possible in 30 to 40 years, If you would have proposed the idea of having a computer in the palm of your hand that told you where you were on earth the in 50's, people would have though you were crazy.

I read a popular science article where they showed an idea for a killer satelite, and it could be ready in a year or so. NASA has the technology to make a satelite that could dock with another satelite to repair it. All you need to do is strip the thing and but a bomb on it and wham, you have a killer satelite!
