The (sorry about the language) assholes that sit at home and infect other computers should be shot, like the rednecks. What they do pisses people off so much, and why do they do it anyway?

CataphractThe problem I have with FireFox is that a lot websites I've tried to view with it haven't worked or have looked really really crappy with it (whereas they looked nice with IE). I don't think FireFox recognizes some of the HTML tags and such that IE recognizes. I've also tried to view one of my own (well-formed) HTML pages, and it came out the way it was supposed to with IE but not with FireFox.

exactly my thoughts in the beginning, but now i even like Firefox better. there are several plug ins that can all be downloaded for free to upgrade your Firefox. and if you still have problems you can allwaysl use your IE as secondary browser... http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ just go to Extensions and Themes/Plugins maybe you will find something useful there to upgrade your Firefox... winkx.gif

CataphractDidn't Hijack This! stop being freeware a while ago? I used to have it, but it said something about it not being freeware anymore.

I got it fairly recently and it's still working. I can't imagine why it wouldn't be freeware.

I use Spybot, Spyware blaster, and the Google toolbar for pop-ups (over 1000 blocked in less than half a year), although it doesn't block this really annoying one that has balloons on it, isn't in a normal windo, and I can't figure out how to close it, so it blocks part of the page.

I really hope the guy gets several years in jail. Ive had to reboot my computer 5 or 6 times in the last few months. One actually involved my desktop becoming one big pop-up. I am currently using nortons, but that requires me to scan my computer everyday and it is slow until i can manage to get rid of all the infected file. Im gonna go right now and get firefox. Thanks to everyone for helping me find something better.

The spyware that you usually get comes from normal web pages and shareware downloads can be easily dealt with. Howerver most spyware that you get from porn pages, come with trojans also. They tend to screw things up and reproduce after deleting. Spyware and addware are useless against those. Hijack this works, but to stay clean you have to stop going to dirty adult pages.

I have learned my lesson from past experiences and I now recieve almost no popup advertisements...certainly none whatsoever on a regular, annoying dad-to-day basis.

NOTE: Thread title changed to fit more to this forum.
