From their Board of Directors:

Statement by Apple

Press Release Source: Apple On Wednesday October 5, 2011, 7:34 pm CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

Their homepage (Apple) has been replaced by a Jobs image marking his death.

I just opened up my browser and saw the news featured on my home page. It felt like a brick shot out of my screen and hit me in the face.

I'm just going to get this out of the way. I am not, nor have I ever been, or plan to be, an Apple fan, but Steve Jobs shouldn't be remembered just because he ran one of the most famous companies in the world.

He should be remembered, because he literally changed the world with his innovativeness, his passion for his work, and for the lives he touched. He apparently had cancer, which I'll be honest, I had no idea he was even a sufferer of.

He was one of the most recognisable faces in the world, and one of the most loved.

RIP

I have never really been an Apple fan, myself, but I do know that Steve Jobs did, in fact, change the world with this passion, inspiration, and determination, and we should never forget him, nor what he did.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs 1955 - 2011

P.S. I know that, deep down, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were good friends :)

I've never been an Apple fan. I've never been a fan of Steve Jobs. That being said, there's no denying that he had quite an impact on technology, and the world's views on technology. While it is true that he did not do any of this alone, he was the main driving force behind it. His innovation and passion for his work will be greatly missed by anyone who is familiar with the many things he has done.

Spoiler: Show
His final product: the iDied. lol
