These headlines are becoming way too frequent... So yeah, another day, another attack. This time in Münich.

At the time of this writing, six are reported dead with dozens injured. Central Münich is on lock down and a KAT Warning has been sent out to people in the city to shelter in place. The German GSG9 unit has been dispatched to the city and police are asking the public to not share video and photos of police actions.

We know very little so far. It seems there may be three shooters, but there's no word on what their associations are or a motive.

Not really any reliable information so far. There is a video of one shooter on the roof of a building arguing with some civilian in another building. The civilian kept swearing at the shooter with a typical Bavarian accent, which kept the shooter busy for a while.

The shooter said that he is German and grew up here. He also said something about being forced to buy a gun. He spoke accent-free German, not the sort of dialect you sometimes hear from Germans with migration background either. He did make a rather confused impression. There is only video footage of that one guy.

Still a little early to call it, but looks like a German with mental issues went nuts in a shopping mall.

It seems a bit much to lock down an entire city, cancel night time transportation and call in the GSG9 for a basket-case. And far as I know, the police already confirmed the shooter shot himself, so there's hardly a reason for the city to be on continued lockdown.

Police received some reports early on that there are several attackers with rifles. There were also mistaken reports of shootings in other parts of the city. So they probably just triggered the "major terror attack" plan, locked everything down and ramped up police presence. Turned out to be overkill, but in a real terror attack this is pretty much the reaction you would have wanted. From what I read so far this looks more of a "school shooting" type of situation. The guy apparently had trouble at school and was in treatment for mental issues and supposedly also took drugs.

It sounds like the German government took a "better safe than sorry" approach, which is good. It appears the shooter was a German with Iranian heritage(so ISIS links are extremely unlikely, despite a lot of media spouting that at first), with an obsession with school shootings. It also seems he might've had links to Ander Breivik, the mass murderer that carried out the attacks in Norway some years ago. Police haven't clarified what they mean by links, though.

The shooting in Norway took place 5 years before the shooting in Munich, to the date.
