I don't see America attacking Iran any time soon to be honest. They already have a huge chunk of their armed forces devoted to various operations around the world, with Iraq and Afghanistan being among the larger ones. And with an economic recession looming over the world like a vulture as well... I just don't know.
AlDaja;4556356maybe someone from Netherlands or region familiar with the paper can elaborate if this is a creditable news source/paper.
No, it absolutely isn't. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that you'll have trouble finding a less reliable newspaper here.
super6-4;4556404those racy cartoons
Those artist were Danish. Personally, I highly doubt there are Dutch operatives in Iran, we have no business there at all.
I looked just now on De Telegraaf, and couldn't see any thing that resembled the above rumour.
some obscure news paper.
While the Telegraaf isn't a reliable or very sophisticated newspaper it isn't by any means obsure. It's one of the biggest newspapers in The Netherlands.
There have been rumurs about an imminent attack for years now. I don't think it is going to happen though. I guess it is more likely that Israel attacks Iran before the US does.

Which would of course result in us going in to help. In that case, we'd still be on the scene in short order.

To be frank, Israel can probably handle the situation itself. Besides, US commanders in Afghanistan are desperate for more troops - engaging in another war is probably not the best of ideas (also, another war at this time would probably hurt McCain's election chances, so it's not going to happen for a while).
Rich19;4556789To be frank, Israel can probably handle the situation itself.
I'm not too sure about that, Israel lacks stealth capability while Iran surely has been stocking up on surface to air missiles which may not be able to deal with F117 or B22 but have no problem swatting F15/16's from the sky. I wouldn't boast about developing a nuclear weapon when israel is free to just come around and remove it at any time myself.
that's when you send in the Israeli special forces, hats off to them, they are some of the most hardcore soldiers out there. they dont have to go by all these restrictions and politics like the US has to when in war. they let it all loose and sure aren't afraid to get dirty.
US can supply the b2 bombers the Israelis back em up with there fighters. then they can blow macmuud back to the friggin stone age.
Where movies would make you believe other wise, "special forces" are not invulnerable to bad guy bullets.
I know this isn't a very "educated" statement but...
This thread is FULL of fail.
I mean, send in the Israeli Special Forces? Come on man, this ain't Hollywood, this is real life. Just getting them to the target is damn near impossible to begin with.
I've heard the rumours too. Probably bullcrap, don't believe everything they say.
masked_marsoe;4556443De Telegraaf is a (the?) major Dutch newspaper, so yeah, I would also expect to see this story all over the place by now, if it was credible.
Telegraaf is known for bullshit, better check Algemeen Dagblad. I guess there site link is AD.nl - 24 uur per dag actueel nieuws but I don't know. Thanks for clearing the Dutch/Danish confusion.
