Indeed the future, well it'll be the present then, will come to an abrupt end on the 21/12/2012

And in the same time the people knew that the world was flat and Earth was center of the Universe.

In 1993 the supreme religious authority of Saudi Arabia, Sheik Abdel-Aziz Ibn Baaz, issued an edict, or fatwa, declaring that the world is flat. Times don't change as much as you'd like to think.

Well, if humanity doesn't destroy its self, or be destroyed by nature, I think the future will be great. I future I would love is as followed: Human life span increased by alot (but not infinite), teleportion for easy access to location's, no world war, no world hunger, AI programs, holograms (like Star Trek), flying cars, cyborgs, wormholes...DX10 for XP (LOL). Those are just some things I would love!

While there are plenty of things humans are doing with our technological power and stupidity that are destroying us, there are so awesome creations being invented, no?

Yes the future may appear bleak, but that is what the fools on the planet have created for us. And we can only try to improve it, sitting here and claiming how we are all fucking ourselves over won't do anything. Yet, that is what many people are doing. (This isn't targeted at the forum folk, but people in general).

And to the nub who gave me negative rep;

Somehow I expected better of you than just labelling everything that isn’t happy fluffy bunnies in the future as, ‘craptastic.’

Oh? So I generalised every opinion here as craptastic? No. In my thread I asked for opinions on what the future will bring, the debate was turning into how we were killing ourselves. Not the thread topic I intended. That's the problem with the Pub, everyone is looking to make their opinion known and heard that they forget what they were "intelligently" debating in the first place.

Reproduction would be through mitosis rather then meiosis

That would not be a good idea.

While there are plenty of things humans are doing with our technological power and stupidity that are destroying us, there are so awesome creations being invented, no?

The most technologically prolific periods in human history are at times of warfare, not peace.

And on a slight tangent, I am genuinely disappointed that I will not be able to see how the human race evolves and advances technologically and socially in the decades, centuries, and millennia after I die.

Why should we wipe out viruses? Or lives would be progressively more miserable if everyone lived 400 Years and Immune to every disease, there would be nothing to keep the population in check.
