For those of you familiar with the "Morning-After Pill" it's real name is Plan B . The drug is a super high dosage of birthcontrol, basically, which generally kills off any fertilized egg or prevents it from attaching itself to the uterine wall. This pill comes in handy for rape victims, a break in a condom, or a drunken one-night stand where you forgot about protection. This drug in the past had to be a prescription. Now if you are 18, its as easy as walking into your local Wal-Mart, grabbing the pill, and heading out the door....and poof... Baby-Be-Gone. If you are under 18, you will still have to get a prescription from a doctor and get that pill before your 72 hours is up. Now, personally. While I don't think I could ever get an abortion myself, if I did, I wouldn't want the government saying "um, no, can't do that." And besides, if a woman is determined enough to get rid of the child, if abortion is illegal, she's going to go about getting it in some pretty nasty ways. What are you thoughts about "Plan B" being over-the-counter now?

i think it should be available to all women, even under 18. some kids might be to ambarassed to go to the doctor or something and hope that they wount get pregnant, and then they do. why do women need a priscription for something this, its just a pain to go to the doctor and say "i had sex last night without protection, can i get those pills?" when you can simply just go to the store and get them.

Great! Now I dont need to get abortions any more.

... But

I think this is a good way, as it is cheaper but may have more side effects.

So now people can kill even more babies:rolleyes:!

If you need this pill, you need to concider changing your lifestyle. If people properly use birth control the number of unwanted pregnancys would be around 40,000 a year. That is a high estimate.

You took the risk, live with the consequences.

This isn't the abortion pill, by the way. It doesn't terminate a fetus that's already developing. Rather, the emergency contraceptive does three things, from what I understand: 1) it prevents sperm from moving around freely, 2) it makes it harder for the sperm to penetrate the egg wall, and 3) if fertilization has occurred, it stops the egg from being implanted in the uterus. And no, if the pregnancy goes forward after taking the pill, there is not an increased risk of birth defects. I think its a good thing, because it will decrease both unwanted pregnancies and abortions.

PethegreatSo now people can kill even more babies:rolleyes:! [/quote] It's not even a freaking zygote FFS. when the birth control works.

Sex is important to many people (possibly the majority of citizens) and I doubt a few hardliner christian conservatives can change the modern means of preventing conseption. So are you against condoms or ANY conventional means of birth control?
You took the risk, live with the consequences.
Technology can fix that. Not everybody has the same moral high ground as you Pe...

I concur. All we need is more illegitimate children on this earth...:smokin:

I agree.

Another giant leap forward for America. It's almost like we haven't already had this legislation in place in the UK for ages now.

I already checked? It cost $40 a pill. That is expensive for someone like me.
