There won't be a record of the human race once the nukes start flying.

For my contribution to the conspiracy theories out there:

What if this is the 3rd, 4th, or 5th time this conversation has been discussed, and life as we know it, is an indefinite loop?

You wouldn't know. At all. Anyways, I don't think there will be a clear-cut distinction between modern day humans and a different 'race' of the future... Any change will be gradual, so slow that everyone will hardly notice.

 I don't think there'll be a new race, there'll just be humans. But that's just my opinion.

If we use bio-terror to kill ourselves we may have a race of humans with better immune systems :).adiation would probably kill all of us unless there was a complete genitic freak of nature (yes I am using that term correctly look it up in the dictionary). Even then new species may evolve that are resistant to radiation. We would not adapt but the genetic survivors would be able to survive and spread there genes.

There are only three possibilities that I can see for there being no humans left on Earth:

1) The planet, or the sun, reaches the end of its life span and humans are forced to abandon it.

2) Humans destroy the planet, either by war or industry.

3) There is a massive natural disaster, such as an asteroid collision, or a concert of massive volcanoes and earthquakes etc, which wipes out all life on Earth.

In any of those scenarios, the likelihood of any interesting species taking our place is remote at best. If humans 'come to an end', it's very, very likely, almost certain, that there will be no other animals left alive to take our place. Because of our total dominance of the planet, combined with our apparent desire to halt evolution in all other species (preserving those which can't survive without our help, for example), the only threats presented to our species are from underground, up in the sky, or from each other.

I watch watching an interesting show, and it had a lot of bullshit because how in the world can scientist possibly predict all this. But anyway, they described some of the new species that would dominate the planet. In 100,000,000 years they think little squid looking things will take over the planet.

It was complete horse shit, but interesting enough.
