Has anyone noticed how fucked up the teenage society is? Only when almost every teenager you know listens to rap and they're favorite song is "It's Going Down, do you realize how gay society is. What kills me is how no one knows the difference between "emo" and scene". Jesus Christ, most kids think "emo" means emotional. Obviously it doesn't, because, hell, what artist doesn't illicit emotion in their songs? if, in accordance to them, emo means emotional, then emo would be an all-encompassing genre from Bach to Toby Kieth to Eminem! Teenagers reject anyone who is different from them, but I guess you could say that that happens with everyone, not just adults. i don't mean that everyone hates you for being different, in fact, many encourage it! But, to be popular in your school or society, you have to conform to what the popular people want you to be. if you shop at Hot Topic, you automatically get labled as "emo", which is utterly stupid. I'm not done yet but I have to go work on a project.

Hot topic has some nice stuff like humor shirts, game shirts, band shirts, ect. It is not all emo/goth stuff.

It shows how ignorant people are when they label you emo just because you go into a store. I have been labeled a prude, boring, ect because I don't like to dance like a crazy person at dances.

A point of irony in teenage culture is the punks vs preps. The punks think they are rebelling because they don't wear clothes from A&E or Hollister like the preps do. I don't think any of the clothes they wear are self-made. Punks are conforming to another set of standards. There as much rebels as Al Gore is a Republican.

I don't fall into any set category. I like greenday, I own an xbox 360, I love outdoor work, I own some timberland shirts, I am the 3rd highest ranking boy in my class, I am on stage crew, and I like preppy girls. I can most identify with geeks/nerds, but I can something in common with nearly anyone.

In 30 years we are going to look back at teenage culture of the early 21st century and die of laughter.

LOL Every older generation marvels at how degenerated the younger generation is getting. I'm only 23 years old and at work I hear it constantly: "it sure isn't the way it used to be." But, as communication evolves and information flows faster and more precise, you have to take into account the lack of speed and accessability of information of the previous generations. Hence, why, perhaps the crime rate may go up because it is easier to declare a crime and easier to keep track of said crime rates. Or perhaps why not too much is known about the excapades of tv/movie stars of yor yet todays are portrayed as whores and drunks? Also, the newer and younger generations try to push the limits on what is morally acceptable, socially acceptable, etc etc. It's just the way it happens. The 70's had the sex, drugs, hippies, muscle cars (atleast in America, can't vouch for others), civil rights protests, war protests...The 80's saw sex on TV, MTV. The 90s had the advent of the mainstream internet, Silicon Valley, boom in gaming (Nintendo, Sega, etc.), etc etc. Now, in the new Millenium, you see technology going Nano, flying cars becoming closer and closer to feasability, privatized space flight, and what was sci-fi in the past is slowly becoming science of the present.

Does this all necessarily mean that the younger generation is becoming more degenerate? I don't think so. I think that as technology advances the sins of the past are more vocalized in the present; i.e. teenage pregnancy has always been around but with technology comes the media induced frenzy over something that cannot be proven to have never existed in the same numbers in the past, only that the present is more aware of it through the media.

What is my scene? hrrmh tough question you couldn't guess by my style of dress but I am a ska fan. Ive associated myself with punks and emo kids but all in all i find labels stupid.

My style of dress is hard to pinpoint it is like punk meets a bit of scene, combined with a ska and reggae and world music fan.

The popularity of hip-hop and rap is getting to me. However, I respect the genre and those that are able to go beyond the current trend of bitches, cars, money and drugs.

However, I must add emo now refers to a post-punk genre of hardcore music that delved almost exclusively into songs about relationships. I respect true emo kids the ones that are more apt to name Texas is The reason as an emo band than MCR.

My thoughts on Punks. The majority tend to be surprisingly nice they can be a bit intimidating but it should be easy for most of us to look past the clothes and the hair.

Scene kids. I have had mixed experiences a lot of them are nice but a good portion of them tend to be elitist douche bags that scoff at those that don't dress as trendy as them. I have a thing for scene girls since a good deal of them tend to be cute.

I just stopped caring. I'll live life my own way and do my own thing and not even pay attention to culture or whatever. If people want to label me then go for it but it falls on deaf(or rather, tuned) ears.

In a perfect world, I think everyone would do what you are doing. Sometimes you do find your own group of friends like I did in highschool, but that didn't change the way I dressed or activities that I liked to enjoy on my own. No one in my group played football except me (however brief it was), but I did get even deeper into video games because of them.

I pretty much think of societies degeneration alot like Red Devil, but as towards todays society and the sects it's divided up into, it's pretty much the way it's always been, because people (in general) will always dislike what is different unless it directly benefits them. Almost a hundred years ago it was:

........Buisnessman, Industrialist, Legislator Rich_/ .......\Inherit wealth, modern nobility

.................Investor, Negotiator Middleclass_/ .................\Doctors, Dentists, Pharmacists, Shop Owners

..................Hard laborers, Store clerks Lower Class_/Runts, Hoboes, Kids .................\Blacks (sadly enough) ..................\Beggers

Today we've expanded upon this and rather than seperate just by wealth, seperate by everything we can think of because people are allowed to be so different without being kicked out of town, starting a fued, and ofcourse an increase in overall wealth. Stereotypicaly

..........Preps, Rich Kids, Bratz Whites/_Football jocs, Soccer Jocs, Baseball Jocs, Normals (those that blend in) .........\Nerds, Burnouts, Goths, Emos, Whores, Gays, Butches, Skinheads/ Chavs

.........Rappas, Gangstas, Civil Rights supporters, Militants (it's cause I'm black, right?) Blacks/_Wimps (the ones that actualy act normal) ........\ Bitches, Slum Dwellers

.....................Politicians (Evil in general), Asians (Smart, always employed) General & Misc/_Normals ...................\Mexicans, Druggies, Frenchmen, etc.

This is the result of freedom + free time + increase in wealth. Ultimately it all means nothing.

I nearly laughed when I read that, pretty true actually.

I don't blend into the "current" culture of most other "popular" people, never have.

Personally, I hate popular culture, and I've never been looked down upon for it, I have my own style, and I like to express it whenever, however and wherever I can, usually ending up in demonstrating how retarded the people around here are!

For instance, once I said that Clint Eastwood could do anything, in the typical sarcastic kind of way, someone said that Clint Eastwood was good song, you could tell they had no idea who Clint Eastwood was, pretty sad actually.

I've never been put off as anyone unpopular, though, mainly because the current fads have just poped up in Iowa, and Grunge was quite popular through the late 90's and early 00's, lucky me.

Thats just about the way i feel. I'm comfortable with myself. At this point if someone doesn't like me or the way I act they can go stuff themselves.
