No one will know if there is an afterlife until we die.
if there is no afterlife, what is this life worth for? Believe it or not, this is actually one of the most intelligent questions anyone has asked so far. Why doesn't God just "dispense with the pleasantries" and send us on our way? I think it's because God wants us to experience life first for some reason. Maybe the pain and suffering of living, and the ability to rise above it and to still enjoy living, is one of the important disciplines needed to truly understand and love God. Just by living we develop an appreciation of God, or whatever form of deity you believe exists. Of course, the next logical step would be: Why do certain people, such as infants or unborn babies, die at such an early age instead of being allowed to live, if living is such an essential step to understanding God? I think this is because, in order for life to ever end, there must be death, and the laws of physics and such do not distinguish between a human being who has lived a long time and a human being that has not. Then again, you could argue that God could rig it so everyone lives just long enough to gain an understanding if he wanted to.
thats an interesting way to look at it. i have always liked the idea of 'destiny' but, found it to be very illogical. do you live only long enough to forfill your purpose? why have a purpose when life seems so meaningless? in the end, all our tiny lives amount to nothing.
perhaps is is just to enjoy life. i myself, have overcome great hardships and severe depression, and come to enjoy and cherise life. perhaps that is truly the meaning of life. just to live.;)
i was wondering. How do ghosts fit into all this? there is plenty of evidence to suggest that ghost exist, so what then are they? are they really spirits that havent passed on? or maybe its just a memory imprinted on the enviroment somehow.
I always thought of ghost to maybe be in some kind of purgatory. They aren't bad enough to go to hell, but not good enough to go to heaven.
yeah, i always though of it as a kind of limbo. i wonder if there is a way out.

Purgatory is a place where people go to purge themselves of their sins. It's not a permanent resting place, because eventually the souls who go there will be let into heaven. or so 'they' told me. but I don't believe we have souls, so I believe there arn't any ghosts either. (since ghosts are suposidly lost souls of man.)
but thats the question, are they souls? i used to live in a haunted house and experienced some very strange things, but are ghosts really dead people or some atmospheric anomoly or something? its very perplexing. whether or not souls as we know them exist, there are ghosts. we know they are there. we just dont know what they are.
I would die without GF

You bring up some interesting theories as to what a 'ghost' might exist as is the physical sensem, Selura, but I would require solid proof to be convinced that such even does exist.
Bring it and present it to my face. :)
Well there is (IMO) a spiritual realm. But I do not believe that human's souls roam the earth. I believe that when one dies, his soul goes either to heaven or hell. Now, the opressive atmosphere you sensed could definately have been a demonic presence. I do believe that demons roam the earth, and that very well could have been what you experienced.
