The ghost of Margaret Thatcher has decided to call a general election. It still needs to go through the commons, but in theory if it goes through, the UK will head to the polls in June.

It's clearly a power play on her part, knowing she has a weak majority currently, but also knowing Labour are at their weakest for some time, it's a perfect time for her to gain a larger majority in the Commons and therefor more easily avoid all the delays that the SNP, Labour and the Lib Dems are posing to her Brexit plans.

I suspect very few people are going to bother to turn out and vote for this one honestly.

My initial reaction was "Oh, well I guess she's sick of being PM then".

This is an aftermath of Brexit, where the entire government pissed on in random directions. Without a government, they had to emergency place a bunch of random people in office.

And this election is those accidentals trying to get themselves legitimately elected into those offices.
