Crying wolf is a tricky thing. If some day there were to be a real wolf, who would believe her. I've seen similar cases of this in the states. Not only is the mans reputation soured badly, but so is hers, despite her age.

Milo;3930632Why do girls do shit like that?

Then again here in Britain I dont see Men getting the rights in divorce issues or child parenting. Woman are more trusted and I have seen it alot with friends. Woman (certain that is) like to take everything from you if you split up with them or do somthing wrong. But then again men are like that, but alot of Woman do stuff like that. Bending the law to their will if you will please.

Milo;3930632I sure as hell hope they don't whip her with a leather belt. She's 8. Not a criminal.

And criminals get whipped with leather belts by their parents...?

Kids in India get caned, whipped, slapped etc. whatever their age (not if they're a baby, of course). How many Indian "bad boys" do you see walking around? And it's not just Indians. It helps kids if they have some sense beat into them, as long as you're not REALLY injuring them. Abusing your child is one thing, but corporal punishment for really terrible stuff like this is another.

True, and I agree that I see women being trusted more than men. Going by personal experience it varies from person to person. I have mates that I would trust over any female. But then there are a few males around that I wouldn't go near unless I had a sharp weapon.

Also, the media can choose how to portray this, just like the media did with this article. Depends how you hear things. I blame society. First they give women no rights (which is bad) Then they give equality (which is great) then many abuse that right of equality. (which is obviously bad)

No, they don't. You took that out of context. Criminals are punished, serve their time. You're suggesting a similar thing, punishing an 8 year old girl by whipping her with a leather belt. What do you think that would do to her? She's too young to understand the circumstance she was placed in, whipping her would only cause her more problems in life. I don't give a shit about India. This is the western world, we're meant to be civilised aren't we?

I still stand by what I said earlier. I think it was the parents fault. An 8 year old does not have the knowledge to understand and explain what possibly happen. My bet is the parents targeted this man because of his race and the vulnerability in society due to where he is from. He is different, simply that.

This is why I firmly believe that the legal system needs work when dealing with rape. Rape is considered a very bad crime, but what happens when a man is accused of rape? His name is plastered across the media, telling everyone watching that he was accused of rape. "Innocent until proven guilty" may be the way our justice system is supposed to work, but that's not how humans think.

In cases like this where there was no evidence of abuse, the girl had a history of lying, and she improperly identified the janitor, I'm just plain shocked. I hope he wins his case, being wrongfully accused of rape is something almost impossible to recover from.
