You don't negotiate with everyone in the UN. You get a few people together who share your ideals and you set up the organisation, then you allow others to join it. The UN does not have a very good rep in my book, it is the cause of the second gulf war, it should have gone into Iraq in the first war and damn well finished the job which we are now left cleaning up for them.

It is also fully responsible for the situation in Israel/Palestine.

So few people is enough to create world-wide political and social organization from scratch?

It was the USA and George Bush who didn't finish the job...

no, it was the UN who told the first bush to back out. it was also the UN who said that they would take action against iraq if they did not cooperate with the UN resolutions, and when the time came for them to take action themselves (since iraq obviously did not cooperate), they backed out. bush did the job the UN said it would do and didnt do because it is useless. dont blame bush.

Just because Bush senior didn't have the balls to finish the job does not mean that the UN should not have gone into Iraq in the first Gulf war. We owed it to them, the world owed it to them, the UN owed it to them; we owed it to them to stand up for the principles that we claim to believe in.

The UN should have supported the Americans in the invasion of Iraq during the first Gulf war and taken that madman out before he could slaughter his own population. Instead it opposed them, making the UN responsible for the subsequent chain of events, including the second gulf war and Saddam's crimes against humanity.

That too. There have been a lot of mistakes when we should have known better.

1. The UN approved the Persian Gulf War. 2. The finger should be pointed at Bush Sr for the post war uprising and subsequent suppression, not the UN. 3. The 2nd Gulf War was unnecessary anyway, so how can it be the UN's fault?
