colonel_bobYes. The only problem is, nothing can go faster than light... Its like the Energizer Bunny of the Universe. However fast you go, light is still going 186,000 some-odd miles per second faster than you.

I thing there are some particles that can go faster that light:uhm:. Neat theory there AzH. I'd think you just go straight forward os many million miles. but going faster than light you would beat the light that was traveling at 18600miles per seconds. Then for how long you were traveling at 2x the speed of light you could then go "back" in time:uhm:. relly right now if you take a telescope and look at a star that is 30light years away you will se what that star was doing 30 ago at the star. So relly we do have time travel but we can't go into the future

AzHi already did. ;) see the link ^up ^there for info on the other four types of time travel...

The problem with that is it assumes you move the whole universe around you, when you drive a car you don’t move the universe around you.

not really, it's just a case of positioning yourself to intercept the incoming light.

I meant going back to alter the timeline.

GedI meant going back to alter the timeline.

that's impossible.

So traveling back in time can't be accomplished by simply recreating the exact situation, since we must also recreate the position of the very stars. our device would have to affect the entire universe. This is entirely impossible. Under no circumstances could we ever affect the entire universe to replay a past event.

No, it just requires a vast expenditure of power, in just the right way.

(congrats, 1000 posts)

you would have to replace the entire universe, as in, put everything back where it was at that time.

But what if the timeline cannot be changed? Everything that has happened thus far is done. The first sophisticated land based creatures crawling up from the sea, it already happened, therefore, cannot be interfered with, cannot be prevented or altered. I think that if someone were to go back in time to this very point in time, they would exist in said time period but on an alternate plane of reality, and, being unable to interact with our plane of existance. How does that sound?
