I, personally, oppose the FMA because I don't feel it is important enough to tie up the Senate for another year. Also, I don't believe the Constitution is the place to decide such a petty matter, and it should not be on the federal government's table. The forum's thoughts on the FMA?
EDIT: The Federal Marriage Amendment is an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Hope there wasn't too much confusion. My bad.

If people of the same sex wanna get married, let 'em. It doesn't bother me, and they may as well pass the GMA then they can forget about it.
i find it scary that the government 'needs' to make an amendment that makes it possible for two people to marry or enter a civil union or whatever you call it. it is the same as passing an amendment that secures equal opportunities for men and women. these things are natural rights, they don't need to be granted; they are there in the first place!
No, I oppose that amendment. First, I think it's a waste of time. Bush just wants to solidify his base of hardcore Christians. Secondly, I don't feel the need to tell people what they can and can't do. It won't affect me if they can or can't get married. Should we be stopping blacks from marrying?
I have no problem with gays marrying, they're allowed to here, so why not down south? Here in Canada, when the idea of gay marriage came up, we figured out it was un-constitutional for them to not be allowed, so we let them have it.
No. No as in, no I don't support it. But then, I'm not American, so that doesn't really matter.
blacks from marrying?
Only if they're trying to marry a skunk or a hippo :p.
Well..should we stop skunks from marrying?! Should we?? Answer the question, Matt! :p
Dammit Zab, I'm an idiot, not a spammer! Really, I can't believe you'd change the subject on a thread like this... how rude of you, Zab (I've dodged the question pretty effectively, don't you think?)!
I didn't make it!
I think that gays should be barred from marrying in a church. Reason why is that God condemns gay people, and marriage was originally a religious institution. However, if they get married outside of a church, I don't care if they call it marriage. But they should at least be respectful to the church.
I make it a point not to know who religions persecute so I don't end up shouting loud words like '(censored)' and 'biscuits'. But theoretically, if that were true, why would the homosexuals in question still be religious? Anyway yeah, if keep it out of the church if that's what religious people want. Have a vote or a coin flip or something.
