Its just like having a men's club. Where only men are alllowed. Then the femenists come and say, thats not fair, we want into the club!

Screw that. If you want to have a men's club, then you should be able to have it. It just so happens that the Marriage club is for couples of men AND women.

Maybe they should just come up with a new name for it. Maybe that would make everyone happy.

Well, when the club only allows in certain people, and it is ordained by the government, that's not fair. And to preempt the "life's not fair" argument, one should still attempt to make life more fair.

Let me put this forth to you all. When African Americans wanted equal rights they were denied cause they were different. They were thought to be inferior. Homosexual Men and Woman just want there equal rights. They did not choose to be who they are. Trust me cause from the many that I know and speak they would have never in a million years asked to be Gay and have to go through what they do. All they want is to be recognized as human beings with feelings and rights. The feeling they want to show is love. They want to show that they have the same ability to love someone, just like everyone else. Yes they may love someone that is of the same sex as they are. So what. Does it harm you? The rights they want are the rights to be at there lovers bed side when they are sick or dieing. To be able to put there lover on there insurance so that person can recieve medical care, dental care, vision care. The right to adopt a child. This subject I will not touch. If anyone really wants to hear my thoughts on it start a new thread. All this marriage ban will if it is passed is show the world how close minded and cold hearted this country really is. As a fellow american and as a Gay male who has served this country in the US Navy, I urge you to look at what this law will really do.

Ah! Don't Ask, Don't Tell! Ah! *as I run around like a headless chicken*

Seriously, that's my belief too. I'm straight, but I know gay people, and they don't like to be treated as "them". I don't see how gay people could hurt anything by being legally recognized. The burden of proof is on the Amendment's proposers: Why not allow it?

To outlaw gay marriage would be to take away a freedom from the American people. The only reason a right should be removed would be to protect other Americans. There is no other reason. And yes marriage is a right. The only people that would oppose gay marriage would be those that do it for religious reasons. And if you listen to the religions it is a right to marry. Can anyone give a reason to outlaw gay marriage that has nothing to do with religion?

Freedom of speech, is a right. Freedom to have lots of guns is a right. Freedom to marry isnt a right. Its a license that is regulated by state / local / federal government. Like fishing :)

As far as `gay marriage` goes, there is no such thing. Its something that people are trying to invent. There is something for members of the same sex, a union.. as stated earlier. So take that and fight for the tax and legal benefits, not expanding traditional marriage to meet your views.

Point and Case..

``The Defense of Marriage Act

No matter what the states do, the federal government’s Defense of Marriage Act of 1996, which was signed into law by President Clinton, defines marriage as an institution that can only be entered into by a man and a woman. As a February 2004 Associated Press article noted, “Even if you’re legally joined in Vermont, you and your partner remain strangers in the eyes of the federal government. This means that you still won’t receive any federal benefits for married people, like unlimited tax-free spousal gifts and Social Security transfers.” Most of the 38 states that adopted similar measures did so after the passage of DOMA.``
