This clip is part of a documentary: Clip: US tank crushes civilian car for stealing wood

Choose "free" for download type (bottom right).

This kind of self-administered justice will surely teach this taxi driver the meaning of democracy and civil rights .

No taxi = no income = no future.

At least these arrogant fuckers had some fun shooting at the car and crushing it with the tank.

Do you think this wilful destruction was justified?

It looks like it was made with an adgenda. No suprise there...

And they aren't arrogant fuckers, asshole. At the time, the US military was the law. If that guy didn't want his life messed up, he shouldn't have stolen from someone. Hell, it's a basic bloody idea. Do not take what is not yours. A law every human can abide by. These guys refused, so as far as I'm concerned what happened to that car isn't a big deal.

Of course not, because it was not your car...

If you are a taxi driver and someone destroys your car then it is a big deal, believe me. And stealing some wood does not mean that you lose all your rights and any US soldier can do with you what he wants to. But obviously I am wrong. They CAN do whatever they want to do...

The link isn't working for some reason (Could just be my shitty internet acting up). I don't really think the US had to crush his car, but of course if they got him into troble without crushing it we could have easily faced it again-this time as a carbomb.

Now that the taxi driver lost his only source of income it is even more likely that he joins the insurgents.

you won't see past the idea that the US is an evil empire trying to take over the world, so talking to you is pointless, but on the note, while I don't support the destruction of the property, I also don't condone theivery, because in Iraq at the time, unstable as it is, theivery will lead to violent retaliation, they're killing each other over which religion they follow, what do you think stealing is going to cause. He may join the insurgency, he may not, either way taking the wood was wrong unless he for some reason absolutely needed the wood to survive, or it was priced at 500 bucks a plank. Either of which is unlikely

Of course, taking the wood was wrong. But is this how American police treats AMERICAN criminals? I don't think so. Or at least, I hope...

Then again, we are speaking about soldiers, not policemen. Of course, they are not really trained to handle civil crime.

Apparently one of the reasons the US are in Iraq is to do justice. Running over a guy's car who stole some wood is not justice. It's immature. Fining the guy and taking back the wood to the rightful owner is justice. These soldiers obviously watched too much trashy TV and played too many "broom-broom" games on the living room floor.
