tige995 Shall we talk about lying to start wars? -the sinking of the Lusitania (it was filled with arms for Britian and therfore a military target) Result WW1 [/QUOTE] Actually you missed this nail completly and you hit your thumb. WW1 was caused by Archduke France Ferdinand being assassinated, when Serbia and Austria got into it, and they declared war on eachother, and every alliance followed another declaration of war. The sinking of the Lusitania (amoung other things), brought the US into the war. and the Lusitania was a passenger liner with arms being smuggled in with the passengers.

What a stupid picture. Did you make that yourself?

That is what I just said...(for the most part) :smack:

There was a big time gap between when the Lustitania was sunk (1915) and when the Americans actually got into the war (1917). I'm not sure how that is significant in anyway, however, I thought I would share that with you all.

jeffbrakThis is the most asinine comment I have seen in a long time... World War 1 was caused by Franz Ferdinand getting assassinated, and that's when the whole chain reaction of "declaring war on each other" happened. Austria-Hungary was only hoping for a minor skirmish between Serbia, however, it escaladed into a full fledged "WORLD WAR". Class Dismissed... I hope you have learned something today. :)

A HELLO? Was not the comment that Repulicans only lie to get the US into wars? The sinking was used as one of the reasons to get the US into WW1. The president said that the Germans sunk a INNOCENT passenger liner and we know that was a LIE and it was used to get the US into the war!!!! I did learn something....YOUR WRONG! :)

just lets try not to get too much off topic..but also haven't you heard of the zimmerman's note? that was one of the causes..(no disrepect to mexicans, but they couldnt have taken america on at that time, and i dont think they would have complied with it.)

Bachmann, im not sure what you mean by that map, if you mean we surrounded Iran, then yes, but will it happen?<--that question..

US is in no shape to attack and occupy any more countries at this moment. They might be able to pull off some strikes with missiles and airforce, but no ground war. There are simply not enough dumbasses inlisting. I made my choice to enlist before 9/11, and things went down south since then. I do not know anybody personally who is planning on reinlisting.

It was the "Zimmerman Telegram" that brought the U.S. into the war, tige955. You make it sound like we joined the war right after the sinking of the lustitania (1915). We didn't. We joined in 1917 due to the Zimmerman Telegram and Woodrow Wilson thought long and hard about the decision to goto war. He didn't just rush in.
