This is certainly interesting:

Iraqi defector admits lying about WMD claims - Yahoo! News

Particularly interesting is this quote here:

"Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi""Maybe I was right, maybe I was not right," al-Janabi said in his exclusive interview with The Guardian newspaper. "They gave me this chance. I had the chance to fabricate something to topple the regime. I and my sons are proud of that and we are proud that we were the reason to give Iraq the margin of democracy."

So, was (or is) 'democracy' worth it?

I'd say democracy is worth war. I don't think the Iraq war was handled well, and think it would have been best to take care of the problem in 1991, with international support and a higher percentage of locals willing to trust the USA and fight Saddam.

Worth it to who? I don't recall hearing shit about the poor Iraqies when the war was being discussed before we went - that came afterwards.

I certainly don't think we should be sending our armies, and more importantly money, abroad to get democracy for a bunch of people we've never met who will eventually try to compete with us. Just making a rod for our own backs.

Democracy was like the fifth reason given for invading Iraq. Don't try to understand the invasion from that viewpoint. It just got tacked on as a justification after WMDs and Al Qaeda ties didn't pan out.

Yes. Democracy is totally worth your own people dying for so someone in a different country can vote for a leader who will probably become a dictator, such is the Middle-East.

Yeah as if this dude was the reason why there was a invasion, let me guess hes also a kurd, it's the same BS that was spouted about Iraq in 1990 about Saddam ordering his soliders to kill babies, but that was also bullshit.

I'd like to see him and his family lined up against a wall for Crimes Against Humanity.

Mihail;5469819Yeah as if this dude was the reason why there was a invasion

I'm not saying he is, I'm just saying that his actions, and the motivation for his actions, are not really something to be proud of given the circumstances.

Chalabi, Cheney and the CIA were the causes of the war. This guy was just support.

I understand that, again, I'm simply wondering if he'll ever realize that lying about WMDs was not a good idea.
