With some discussion on homosexuality on other threads, I was wondering.

At its heart, what do u think homosexuality is? A disease? A freely made choice? Faulty wiring in the brain? A genetic inheritence?

Personally I think it is caused by faulty wiring. Most people "come out of the closet" in their teen years when your hormones are at 500 % operating level, so I think something doesnt click right in the brain. Or I think it could be a choice. You just prefer a guy for whatever reason.

I would only call it faulty wiring if it caused actual physical problems, which it doesn't. The only thing preventing those people, and they are people which is what really bothers me about the intolerance that can be displayed at times, from leading normal lives is other people who are ignorant (Not demeaning, they simply don't understand) of this "wiring". Everyone is different. Some people are short, others tall. Some have black hair, others red. And some people have different sexual preferences. No big deal.

It is a simple chemical unbalance in the brain. But for some it means this: capt.cadv10706272331.gay_pride_parade_cadv107.jpg And others this: beckham.jpg And yes, I know how hot is wife is. But he has :gay: written all over him there.

I agree with Riles, it's just how you have been born, that it is far more common to born as a hetrosexual then a homosexual doesn't say much, it's just more common, but like redheads the fact that homsexuality is less common doesnt mean it's a disease. During your creating you either turned a hetro or homosexual, it's just that. Now some might call it a genetic error but that is open for debate. More study would be required to exactly find out what makes somebody a homosexual or hetrosexual (or bisexual).

there are portions of the brain that control gender traits and these areas are different in men and women. it has been found out that in gay people these areas resemble more the oposite sex. hense why someone does not "choose" to be gay and cannot be "cured" of their homosexuality

I personally think it's a choice whether to be gay or not. To be honest, I could care less about gay people. Sure...they may act a bit idiosyncratic at times, but who cares? They are human beings with just as much emotion and feeling as any heterosexual. Homosexuals don't deserve special treatment. They deserve equal treatment.
