Jeffro;4303653Shouldn't we be proud to be a part of Earth and Humanity instead of worshiping an ideal that only tears us apart as a race? The whole "12 people from *insert country* are worth 1 American" attitude is sickening and it needs to stop. Hating people you have never met and loathing a country you have never been to before needs to stop as well. What is the point in having pride in your nation if it only leads to the uneducated judgment of others that don't live in this nation?

That doesn't sound like patriotism it sounds more like nationalism / racism.

Patriotism is something that was invented by leaders to keep the followers in line.

DarthZipacna;4307930I didn't say that I would want the UN like it is today... that wouldn't work... there have to be a lot of changes before that can ever happen...

What i mean is this: The United Nations is an example of a precious idea gone wrong, implemented wrong and operating wrong. I doubt you could make enough changes that would change anything about that. Either way it doesnt matter what you do, there will always be wars. Pessimistic? It certainly is but its but all too true.

That's simply what we're programmed to feel. Name a single population that valued nature over their nation/city/tribe/clan. Tree-huggers herald Native Americans as being close to nature. But American tribes were no different than anyone else - they valued their own people over all others, just like the rest of us. From an evolutionary standpoint, White man and Red man were exactly the same. Except White Man just happened to have better agriculture, which gave him a bigger and healthier population with better technology.

Chemix2;4304260I'm kind of sickened by the fact that so many Americans don't care that their freedom is being removed.

Any freedoms in particular?

I've been arguing for several days on a tech forum with several english and a couple of aussies about the legitimacy of the right to bare arms. If they had their way nobody but the criminals would be able to defend themselves.

Exactly. The guy with the gun is all the more powerful if he has the support of his hostages. Even better when they don't know they are hostages.

As far as I know the first three are still in effect. Even if they were voided it would be the publics fault for sticking their head in the sand and not raising a fuss.
