I've found myself contemplating lately, what is really the point of our lives? Really, I mean what are we supposedly living for? At times I feel like I'm living just because I'm here and alive. I mean, when you think about it, why do we care about money? What's the point? Buy expensive stuff to what, impress other people? Why does it even matter? Who cares what people think? It seems like ultimately all things in life seem to just be impressing or leaving an impression on other people. Why do musicians compose music? To impress other people or have a lasting legacy that people will here. Why are people actors in films and TV shows? So they have fame and are adored by other people? The point and reason for much of this stuff escapes me, perhaps because I rely as minimally as possible on society for anything. It seems as though people just proceed with some illusion they've convinced themself of, some false goal or achievement they want. Really, if a single guy wants a big fancy house and an exotic car what's the point? To attract a woman. If not, say the exotic car - what's the real point? Going fast? What's that do - impress other people, or so the perceived goal is. It seems as though nearly everything we do when you get down to it is to impress other people or to give other people some reason to recognize you. Some lasting legacy that people will remember you for, or because of. But truly, what is our purpose if we don't care what other people think? It seems there is no real goal or point to aim towards. I can see a purpose for a soldier - fight for your country, kill them, don't get killed. A police officer - remove the criminals from the community and maintain the safety of it. A doctor - save people's lives, help them with ailments. However I don't quite see my purpose. I'm a Computer Information Sciences major. What real point do I have? It just seems like something to do while I'm alive, but what real point am I going for? Why do I care if I'm stopping hackers from getting into a company other than not being paid money which allows me to sustain myself? I mean, so much seems like basic sustenance is the only thing we ever truly aim for all the time. As if our existence is only something to do until we're not here anymore. Thoughts?

There is no purpose to life. Just enjoy it and stop searching for meaning.

I find no enjoyment in life without purpose. Why even exist? Why go on? What real reason is there to the things we do? And because you don't believe in religion doesn't mean everyone else has to stop talking about it.

The purpose of life is to be as greedy and self-centered as possible. It's easy. Just follow the tenets of bourgeoisie capitalism and take a gleaming look at Wall Street. Buy, buy, buy! It's your duty as an Epsilon of this glorious caste society to distract yourself with menial shit while the few assholes who actually own everything look at their reflection through the pile of gold sitting in their luxurious bedrooms. Good luck snapping out of the googly-eyed stupor because even if you muster up a modicum of brains and courage to counter this banal embarrassment aptly titled "status quo", the atavistic nature of every common jackass from Annapolis to Yuma will crush any sort of movement that embetters (or perhaps embiggens) our society. So much for facilitating the ascent opposite of our cro-magnon ways...

*thunk* *thunk-thunk*

Me Jane. Jane want wedding rings. Jane want big-screen. Jane want sapdaddy John to take care of Jane. Jane want.

*thunk-thunk-thunk*

Me John. John want spoiler on Tempo. John think job good. John like safety. John hate libral media. John watch American Gladiators. John need explain for A.G.

Live for the moment. I don't believe in an afterlife, to me that just means that all I have is this mortal life, so I should do my damned best to make the most out of it.

There is no purpose. Not even to have fun and enjoy it. There is absolutely no purpose to life at all, so make what you will of it.
