What religion are you guys? If not religious, feel free to say so as well.

I'm Catholic. Not to be misinterpreted as protestant, because Catholics are completely different from the vast majority of Christian denominations.

I figure eventually someone will try and explain how their denomination or religion is superior, and from there an argument will ensue.

Maybe I'll start now. Catholicism is superior to non-Catholic denominations. You are either Catholic, or protestant. As Catholics (well, the Catholics I know), we don't distinguish between different denominations. You're either a Catholic or a protester that waters down the true Christian faith established by Jesus and carried on through Peter our first bishop and pope.

Technically: I'm a Roman Catholic, baptised and all that Jazz. Realistically: I denounce any organised religion as nothing more than evil manipulative organisations.

I don't wanna play smart-ass here but Roman Catholic indeed is the only right description since there's also Ethiopian Catholic and Armenian Catholic:D Well, as you might guess, I'm Roman Catholic, too (hm... that's sort of odd here, isn't it?). And, refering to your statement, Metall pingwin, that all organized religion is evil... what other choice is there to exist for a religion? Let's face it, if the Catholic church (the Roman, Armenian and Ethiopian;)) would not have accepted the Pope as a sort of absolutistic ruler... it would have fallen apart! Look at Luther's life! Everyone just did what he wanted to in Germany after they were allowed their "individual" faith (the Lords of course, not the people)... there is a Parliament for the Protestant Churches in Germany today! That's not really one religion, that's basically as many churches as people counting themselves in.

You are free to think that way. I suggest you pick up a book about the history of the Church, and you will find that protestantism came about in a series of unfortunate events that is partially the Catholic Church's fault. As a result, the Catholic Church made reforms that have been both positive and longstanding.

However, when reading the history of the Church, you will come to find that our Church (Christianity) has ALWAYS had a hierarchy, ALWAYS believed in the Eucharist, and the development of the other sacraments came about in the early Church. They are all scripturally based as well.

Any Church that does not have these sacraments is not following the Church as Jesus would intend. Catholicism is very narrow, and very hard to follow. It is very counter-cultural, and very orthodox. Many liberal Christians from other denominations do not like Catholics. Many fundamentalists do not like Catholics either because of misconceptions of Mary worshipping. We do not worship Mary of course, but that is one big misconception.

However while we're at it let's be accepting of all religions (even the absence thereof).

So let me get this straight -- you made this thread just so you could be a dick and tell everyone who's not a Catholic that they're lesser human beings and are going to hell? Please spare us. We don't need a thread for that.
