Probably a heap load better. Here is an example I found on Yahoo on how the US government decides it has the authority to involve itself in the lives of Americans.

Ban online gambling? I've taken place in online gambling for fun, actually won 200$ in a poker match. All I can say is that the government of our country likes to shove its nose in all of our lives, including Europeans.

The bigger question is, how much better would life be without the US governments existence?

300 million people would be running around naked and raping women if the US government wasn't in exsistance.

You don't give it as much credit as it deserves.

well, im sure without the US gov't we one, wouldnt have a country, two, would prob be in a similar state as parts of africa, with hundreds of "tribes" trying to control everything

there would be wars, genocides, and mass hysteria. Also, you would have NO gov't funder programs, schools, roads, parks, and the countless other thigns the gov't does. The economy would be in shambles, if there was one at all

The question was more of a rhetorical one. What I want to know is how everyone feels about the meddlesome state of our government, and how life would be different (for better or worse) if the US government just stayed out of its citizens lives and went about its usual ways (taxation, etc).

Which means if two gays want to marry, they can. If someone wants an abortion, they can. If someone wants to sodomize his or her wife/husband, they can. If I want to gamble my money away online, I can. If I want to smoke weed without harming anyone else, I can. And so on, and so forth.

Gay Marriage, Abortion, smoking weed, etc... should be dealt with at the state level IMO

But the gov't has to interviene in our lives to some degree, if they didnt, we would have a lawless country, and that would just leed back to a state of hystaria

Yes, it is, but the National government still regulates some of it. The drinking age, for example, is set by the states to whatever they please. They just don't receive funding for road construction and upkeep if its below 21.

You hate the US government because it thought about banning online gambling. Wow, that's a new low.

Hell, anyone who plays poker online for money can't be all that smart anyways. Half of poker is reading your opponents face for bluffs, how the hell do you do that when you can't even bloody see them?

I honestly don't know how thats fun. One time I played online with a friend for fake money, and it was really boring. I also noticed that the hands seemed to be rigged, i.e. somone would have a full house on the flop, only for someone else to get quads on the river.
