I greet people to acknowledge im there and to get everyone happy :). It is a polite thing to do and not appear snobby.

I do it out of habit. Usually either a "Hey" or "Sup," as I don't seem to feel much of an obligation to be polite.

I just realized I might be a sociopath... Hmm... :lookaround:

Why not? Have you got something better to do with those 0.16 nanoseconds?

Anyone who has Sheepeep on their MSNM contact list will know what it's like to have someone talking to you without saying hello first. It seems so forced...

For example, if you say 'hello', I get the opportunity to say 'fuck off' before I commit to anything. Not... not that I would say that or anything.

yeah - i guess greeting serves as an intro into a possible conversation or to kid of get a feel for the person your talking to (ex. = mood)
