Like many, he has a strong political bias, which is fine. My problem with him is that he doesn't admit it and tries to pawn off his work as balanced documentary film making.

Lots of dodgy cuts and editing tricks in his work, as well as a really strong bias which discredits his other (somewhat) decent work. Overrated, anyway.

We studied it back in high school as part of media studies - a scene with Charlton Heston (?) which was filmed in segments and then spliced together, because there was no way he could have filmed that scene with just one camera, and no way he could have done it real-time with two (we tried it with cameras).

Meadow;3994695Sorry, are you talking about Moore's films or mainstream American news channels?

Both do their part.

And it is sad that people actually do believe this without question. It's almost as if they can't think for themselves.

MrFancypants;3994193Difficult to say as it's difficult to find out with certainity wether all the claims against Moore are true or simply made up by those who don't like him.

His movies look like propaganda to me, but they draw some attention to real problems and they are entertaining, so I just consider them as more of a pointer towards a problem instead of a documentation with valid information.

I have to agree with Jan here. It's good that somebody wants to focus attention and show the other side of the dime but it's a real pity he manipulates facts so they are a little more convinient. A typical case of the "pot is calling the kettle black".

Having said that I'm glad that he atleast shows an alternative viewpoint. But after having caught peoples atention to a problem there really should be a more objective documentairy.

I'm going to go with 'because he is a sensationalist tabloid hack'.

I think some people hate Michael Moore for his willingness to face truths that others aren't, which make them uncomfortable and he does it in a profoundly smug, holier-then-thou way which pisses me off about him.

I saw michael more once. I took him to all the film stores in my town just to piss him off. What pissed him off? All his films were in the "fiction section"

I think Michael Moore is a complete jackass.

You want to film a movie about certain things in life and call it a investigation thats fine.

But dont manipulate facts, splice video to present things in a way that didnt really happen, dont manipulate data, dont pay people to be "eyewitnesses", and then pawn it off as fact and say this is the truth.

If you present your message as a honest portrayal of the truth then the work needs to be honest and unbiased as possible or else its just fiction and propaganda.
