What Do You The Second SuperPower In The World Is???? What I Believe Is North Korean Or China. Mostly NKPA. Its Not That I Like The NKPA Its Just That The Army In NKPA is The Largest Now Beating China's Military. How Can An Small Country That Is Also Seperated Have An Large Army? The Fourth SuperPower I Believe Is Britain.

There is only one superpower at the moment, and that's the USA. China will be up there in a few years though.

North Korea is a wasteland that would crumble if it ever encountered a remotely powerful enemy. It's been running on a wartime economy for far too long, and it's enormous military is poorly trained and poorly equipped, and they can't really do anything with it but wage a defensive war. The only real danger with North Korea is the fact that they have a psychopathic leader who potentially has access to nuclear weapons. China is an infinitely greater threat (not that they will ever actually go on the offensive), though they too are more likely to succeed in a defensive war rather than an offensive war. Their nuclear arsenal is comparable to France rather than America (and then only in terms of numbers), and although their army is being upgraded now it is still behind those of Western nations from a technological point of view. Though they have an enormous number of soldiers, they lack the ability to deploy them outside of their borders. Their training is also questionable. This will change soon, it seems, as China gets more and more money from its substantial economic growth. China's navy is also on the up, though still lacking compared to Western versions. If you're looking for a secondary military superpower I'd look elsewhere for the time being -- the UK, France (no jokes, take it to the Melee if you can't be grown up -- on paper their military is formidable) or Russia to an extent. Although they lack the same numbers as China, they make up for this with technology, training and versatility. However, measuring every nation solely on its military is a foolhardy tactic at best. China's economy is their real plus, and the thing which will eventually allow them to make their military more of a threat. It's growing at an amazing rate and will start overtaking rich and powerful nations such as the UK in the next few years. North Korea's economy, on the other hand, is in tatters. Unless they make a radical change (i.e. remove their current leader and install a sane one who won't run them into the ground for the sake of his ego), this will not change in the foreseeable future. I've also heard an interesting suggestion today that India could also be one to look out for.

You said that about the Jappanese in WW2. Didn't you learn in school not to underestimate others and not to judge a book by its cover?

France is not a superpower Matt, come on. And I am being serious. They are mabey in the top 10 if they are lucky, but "even on paper"...and besides, they really dont have a good historical record of warfare.

The UK is definatly second. China up and coming to third.

If it's obvious that an army cannot supply itself or that the army is undertrained, then that army cannot wage an offensive war against a better equipted, trained and supplied army. Now, this is all theoretical, because chance always has it that the smaller army could have some success, but look at Iraq during 'combat operations'.

China is an economical superpower my friend. Thats what you all have to fear. It already has the US to its knees, and the EU aren't far behind.

No, its not obvious at all. Why are you even comparing Iraq? 60% of the troops if not more just surrender as they had no cause to fight for. You can't say its obvious when it certainly isn't. What exactly makes it so obvious if I may ask?

Woah there cowboy. Don't need to get in a fit. This is simple logic really. If you cannot get bullets to the front lines, there is nothing to shoot with and you are sitting ducks. If your planes are old versions of the Mig-29 (or something similar, I'm not singling out Russian fighters,.. Nesh) and the pilots don't have much experience, then they are nearly sitting ducks, but there is always a chance for a lucky shot or two. Vietnam had some good fighter aces, but they were trained by the Soviets and I don't think they are helping North Korea very much with that. True, the Iraqis had little to fight for, but they had poor quality equipment to fight with. I'm talking Gulf War 1 & 2. Even if N. Korea wanted to fight to the death, they would only be delaying eventual defeat. I doubt N. Korea would stand a chance against a better equipted army.

See, this is the sort of Frenchman that I really like. Not all are assholes! The name is Kim Jung Il, you were very close. Son of Kim Il Sung, and born in the Soviet Union while his father was being trained by the Russians to fight against the Germans. Il-Sung became a Captain in the Soviet Red Army. Little known fact. Kim Jung Il's birthname is Yuri Irsenowich Kim. I know this stuff because I wrote a report on North Korea's nuclear program for my comparative government class last year. Got an A too, of course.
