If WW3 were to happen, which I'm guessing will, it's just a matter of when, who do you think will be involved and why? I think that the U.S. would be involved and the allies would include obviously the U.K., probably Russia, though Putin has made some moves that stir up curiosity. I think that the "axis" enemy would most likely be middle eastern countries. If that were the case, I think that Israel would be involved as well, but on which side? Probably allied. Obviously 15 years ago the most likely proponents of a third world war were the countries of the Soviet Republic, now it is not the case, and I think that many (don't get me wrong: not all) of the middle eastern countries pose a direct threat to democratic societies.

Meh, didn't realize forum title had changed, and figured it would make for good discussion among history buffs, comparing past allies to present etc.

yeah put em here...

I guess the allies would remain the same.. and that the 'Axis" would either be middle eastern powers, though i ddont know they have enough power to make a whole world need help...

maybe a country like Korea?

I kinda think WW3 is already started in the Middle East, but will see what happens. Maybe it will spiral out into a full blown world war or maybe there will be peace in the Middle East.

Yeah, I think that if the middle east and N. Korea keep gaining power, though the middle east doesn't really have much, then they would be the "axis" powers. Obviously N. Korea would be running the show much like Germany to Japan in WW2. I think the greatest danger would be from korea, but that terrorists in the mid-east would attack us with many painful pinpricks, while major onslaughts would come from Korea.

I dont know, the North Koreans can barly support themselves now, defineitly not a full blown war effort. Plus Kim Jong Il has alot to lose and very little to gain from it, while the Muslim Extremist have nothing to lose and all to gain!

Good point, that is true. Unfortunately, we really don't ever know a whole lot about what is going on over there, so I wouldn't count them out as a threat.
