Modern sociaty is good in general but it is going downhill. But i'm sure that things will imporive in the near future.

And why do people always start about the actions of the democrats vs the republicans in threads like this? we are talking about society as a whole not just the american society.

The funny part to this is the key word **AMERICAN ** SOCIETY. I myself am only 17 and have seen the united states, watched the news, and i am pretty much sick of how the US handles themselves. People live with fear (due to the horrible things that the news puts on ) and people overall live with alot of stress in their lives. People turn to religious beliefs to cope with the bad things of life I myself wonder if the rest of the world is this poluted?? Are peoples minds in Europe this poluted? If the rest of the world is like the USA ....kill me now who ever is in charge. What a waste.?!?! Anyone else with me ??? Oh and i highly doubt society will get any better only b/c if you look at the trends since the 1950's it has only gotten worse.......1050s was pure harmony...now we have drugs, murderers, less family time....what makes u think it will get any better?

Yes... Except for all those surfs in Europe that had to do back-breaking work for their entire life or die. :lookaround:

Man can't accept that there never was a golden time for humans. Yet so many civilizations think back to the great days of the past. The garden of Eden, the 'golden' age mythologie of the Greeks, Vergillius, Petrarca,...

Yet we have to accept that our society isn't that bad. In the ancient days and Middle Ages, 90% of the people worked on the land, and were poor. 1% was VERY rich (especially during the reign of the emperors and late republic). There will always - as long as we live in a capitalistic society - be a gap between the rich and the poor, injustice, hunger,... But slavery is gone (exploitation remains however), women have the same rights as men (oh, that's a bad thing :p),...

Our society isn't that bad, though it can always use improvement :).

They do? or you do? Because I don't.

Stress is a part of life. Improve yourself.

People turn to religious beliefs to cope with the bad things of life

It ain't so bad here. Really, if you hate America so much, feel free to leave whenever you wish. There is always someone wanting into our great Country.

This is the way we should all think. Life is good enough, now what can we do to make it better.

Colonlel bob i was referring to the US.

Could my negative views on society be to the lack of interaction with society? I go to school, work and come home and this is how i feel.

Is there more out there? Besides religion to turn to?
