Asking about a crack or warez
first warning: - tell them that we do not support warez here. (in a nice way)
second warning/last warning: - remind them that we do not support warez here and posting anymore about it will lead to a ban.
If user still doesn't listen: - email or pm an administrator, giving links to involved threads and any other details you believe are necessary, including the reason for/if you decide you want them banned by an administrator.
Posting links to warez
first warning - edit the users post then inform them that we are not a warez forum and posting links to warez will not be tolerated. (of course, say this in a nice way, just try to get the point across :))
second warning - edit the users post, again, inform the user that warez is not tolerated and user will be banned if they do not stop (with a mildly pissed off tone), lock the thread (as no use will come of it aside from the warning you gave him that others will see and know not to do the same thing), email or pm an administrator giving them all threads that incident happened in with all the details you think are necessary, including the reason for/if you decide you want them banned by an administrator.

I thought that we couldn't ban anyone to begin with. :p
not on these forums, only a adminstrator can
OK, Thx, I'll keep that in mind!:)

So why bother telling us not to? :silly:
Since this is now a mixture of GF notes and I'm here, I need a ruling on swearing in sigs.
Swearing is allowed on some forums and not on others. If foul language is used in a sig, it will retroactively appear everywhere that person already posted even in family oriented forums that do not allow that language. A moderator deleted a post for language but the language was in the sig. The asked if they should restore the post. Any thoughts?:?Block:
It's fine as long as the person only posts in forums that permit profanity. For example, we do not permit profanity in the JK forums. If this person posts in the JK forums then the JK staff will remove the sig with an explination why in the sig, etc; etc. The user could also just post without a sig in the non-profanity forums but it is each users responsiblity to take care of this on their own.
Whenever a person violates a rule, we normally make a note of it in the Users Notes. If the user persists in violating our guidelines with the sig, we'll remove sig privelages from them altogether. I believe a bit of this is stated in the existing rules but obviously not to the extent of your original question. I hope I answered it for you.
Also, I noticed some of the info in some of the previous posts were incorrect by the existing guidelines we have, like the 3 strikes your out with warez & whatnot. We now ban on sight when it comes to warez. If they ask, if they give, whatever - perm ban on sight - no exceptions. We still follow the 3 strikes your out about everything else but not that.
As for banning, if it's a hands down ban like warez, porn, or advertising, you can ban them but make sure you give n0e, AzH, or Dread notification. If it's not a hands down ban, you need to get an "okay" first. You also need to make sure that you have some record of what happened, like I normally move the thread to the trash can &/or edit the post & add everything to the Users Notes.
if you see profanity in someone's signature, please contact either a SuperMod or FN Admin to have the offending signature removed. whereas profanity in a post is a singular occasion; swearing in a signature or avatar, user title etc can be seen on every post that user has made.
if i had "fuck you" in my signature, it would be viewed over 5000 times as each post would include it. you may or may not permit swearing in posts in forums, but i'd appreciate it if a global restriction on foul language in signatures etc was undertaken.
