My sis gave me her copy of the Sims 1 cuz she was moving and wouldn't have the time for it. so everything goes fine until i click on the install button (the menu and everything pops up). but when I click install I get an error message that sais: C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the program. My computer meets all the requirements, it has the HD space, and an appropriete CD player and it has Wondows XP. everything my sis' computer had and it worked fine on her computer too. any ideas how to solve my problem?

well, i contacted EA and apparently its an OS related error! WTF, my OS!? my computer is less than 3 MONTHS old and it's an OS problem? that seems unlikely, well here's hoping Sims 2 works when I get it whenever I have the money...

I'd go to the windows support systems. I get that error message a lot. I just say that it's a standard Window's fuck-up and go on with life. Restart, reformat and then kick the computer for good measures. Defraging also works to rid the problem for a while.

I don't know if I'd count on Sims2 though, with all the errors people run here with, but good luck any how.

thanks swissalo, i'll try defragging sometime and hope it helps as I'm not in the mood for a total reformat and having a clean slate. and if worst comes to worst and in a couple weeks I get the same BS with the Sims2, there's always the Urbz for PS2 that comes out in November. Which sounds real good, Sims, city style. OF course the best thing woul be for S2 to come out on PS2.

ok when i go to defrag i have 2 options one is C drive and the other is D_RP drive or something. I know I want to defrag my C drive but it keeps giving me this error message when I click the defrag button:

Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: PRESARIO (C:). Please run Chkdsk/f.

WTF, someone please help me!

I'd go through Ctrl Alt Delete and make sure nothing else is running on the computer(except Explorer and Systray), take out any CDs in the drive(s) if you have cable hook-up for internet use have the internet off. My defragger can take up to five hours to defrag just be one of those.

There are some other help sites that can tell you how to deal with the ChkDsk problem, just copy the error to volume and place that in google. It should show how to fix that problem in the first few finds. Good Luck

I also read that running Spyware checks and virus scans are helpful in battling this issue Unsure how true it is Thankfully i have Not yet been bothered with it But hey anything is worth a try from the MANY posts i am reading regarding it. I do a every other week spyware scan with Spybot and adaware i clean my registry with ACE utilities and do a Norton virus scan (making sure to ALWAYS keep virus updates updated)and do a disk clean up and defrag twice back to back Never had a issue with this so maybe it is helpful?? All the above are free Except Norton and ACE but they have other good registry cleaners Ace has a free trial though and is a great utility and of course there are many good Virus protectors free out there However when downloading anything online Always do a scan with Spyware scanners to be sure you did not get any little added goodies you did not ask for :) Hope this is helpful April

try looking in your local disk coz it could be in a different hidden folder, try searching your pc as well
