I just reinstalled it today, it went thru the installer no problem, but now when I try and open it it just gets an error and dies. I haven't played it in forever, and have never downloaded any mods or anything like that so I don't know what it would be.

I've never heard of this happening before. What does the error message say? My only guess could be that your system no longer meets the requirements, as that seems to be the only other possible cause. Also, why did you reinstall it? It may help a bit to know this.

Well since i'm too lazy to really research this myself i'll give you some more specifics. I reinstalled it because I had stopped playing it a few months ago. Now I have decided to play again. I reinstalled it, and now every time i hit the launcher it gives me the error report box and closes.

I have an idea as to what is going on but i'd like to hear your opinions too. And about my system not meeting the requirements, you don't have to worry about that.

It'll do that if you have any cd copying software on your comp. Sims 2 hates stuff like that.

Uninstalled it and still nothing. I even tried reinstalling it after the software was gone. Any other ideas?

Hmm... I cant really think of anything that could've done it now. This is sort of making me paranoid about ever having to reinstall my game... I suppose the next best thing to do would be to go find one of the patches from somewhere (if it isn't already patched) and try installing that. If you have any expansion packs, you should try reinstalling those as well, since they might help in finding out if the problem is with the basegame, or the whole thing. If it still doesn't work, then I think contacting EA would be the only other option, due to this being such an odd problem.

Well I uninstalled everything manually myself, then disconnected from the internet and reinstalled it. But still nothing. I'm just gonna give up on it, it isn't worth the time I would spend on it anyway.

Contacting EA wont help shit...I also got problems running games on my computer, I get a BSOD and the computer restarts by itself, I don't got The Sims but its related to this problem that Windows XP has gone mad O.o

I tried playing some games on Windows Vista and it works, but they wont work on Windows XP anymore, I hope this is fixed in Service Pack 3, or else I will contact Microsoft, EA Games and Blizzard Entertainment to get an answer!
