Quick solution for those who have the stupid DirectX 9.0c error when trying to launch The Sims 2 in full-screen! --------------------------------------------- 1. See to that you have the latest DirectX 9.0c compatible graphic drivers installed! Check ATI, Nvidia or your graphic card manufacturers website for that. 2. Install DirectX 9.0c (from The Sims 2 CD) AFTER you have installed/upgraded your graphic drivers! 3. Try to run it with the -w (run-in-window switch), create a shortcut (or edit the existing one) and add -w after sims2.exe. It should look like this: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin\Sims2.exe -w" 4. If #3 works then you have the correct DirectX 9.0c compatible drivers. If Sims 2 refuses to start without the added -w switch try this: Change your Windows desktop resolution to something smaller or more "standard". I was running 1280x960 (true 4:3 aspect) and when i changed to 1024x768 or smaller Sims 2 launched flawless! Apparently some bad DirectX resolution handling from Maxis side, but this solution solved my problem and it will hopefully be adressed in a patch soon. Hope it helps you too! Have fun! :)
