I'm on XP home too, and I ran into the same problem. If you've got the memory, try this: Explore CD1. Make a new folder on your desktop (I named mine 'temp sims') Copy ALL the files to a Temporary Directory on your hard disk. It's big, so it'll take a while. Now, put in and explore CD2. Open the Setup folder there. Copy ALL the files. Paste these files into the Setup folder from CD1 (it was 'temp sims/setup' on mine) Now try running the install. It worked fine for me. The best I can tell, it's got something to do with moving the data off your CD. Sorry.

Ohmygod, I'm so confused ! Haha, I've read through all of this and many other things, singing up to anything &everything to get help. Yes I am actually this depserate to play it, hahah.

So anyway, loads of people were saying about it being the driver, so I tried updating mine. But I'm not sure if I did it right, because I pretty mcuh guessed my way through it, and half the things that were apparently meant to happen while updating it didn't, and now it still doesn't work anyway :/

But yeah, so I just have the same problem as everyone; it starts loading, gets to the neighbourhood screen [sometimes not even there] and then either shuts itself off and takes me back to my desktop or jsut restarts the whole computer :/
