Uck, just turned down a really nice opportunity because of prior commitment >_< Just... Can't make the interview day. Meeting externals, you can't get out of that and book it as time off. I'd applied ages ago, and we're talking like an entire quarter, back when my availability was greater.  I mean yeah, maybe I wouldn't have got it, but it was damned near perfect for me. Both in terms of career progression and in terms of what the work was.

There are times being reasonably honest, (not just phoning in sick and going anyway,) sucks.

You drink that swill?

I'd rather drink "AMERICA".

I tried drinking America once. It was too bitter.

Yeah but it's the lesser of two evils.

And beggars can't be choosers.

Speaking of calling in sick... I was gonna go camping after work this weekend. Instead, fate had in mind that I should call in sick and not go camping.

But seriously, that's a bummer. Strange that they didn't have any flexibility on the interview date. Good that you're not leaving your current company hanging though.

You spend 40+ hours working for a living. Why would you want to spend the weekend pretending you are homeless?

"Lindale"You spend 40+ hours working for a living. Why would you want to spend the weekend pretending you are homeless?

Reasons. Like socializing when I'd otherwise be gaming, on the computer, after working a job that has me on the computer for 40 hours. Or getting in slightly better shape. Or removing myself from a society of distractions to see some good ole' IRL VR and do some good ole' introspection.

To be honest, I'm not much a fan of camping anymore, I just don't sleep too well on the ground. And I'm too much of a city kid to like the dirt and lack of showers. But the above reasons are reasons to go at least once in a while. Maybe you ought to try it sometime. Perhaps it'd be a much-needed break?
