I was in that hurricane. It's one of my earliest memories. My parents think that that is the reason I got into severe weather. It may be partially, but I can't recall or don't know another reason why I would get into severe weather from an early age. Hugo may have been 99% of the reason why I love severe weather. Dunno. Well, I was in Fort Mill, SC, near Charlotte, when it hit. Missed the tornadoes it produced, but it was cool being in one. I think at my age, it did not seem that bad as I thought it would be, but it was a weak Category 1 when it came over us.

Lucky..my parents went through the big thing when it went over St.Croix.

Well, it was the category 5 monster storm at that time. Basically they hid in a closet and held the doors shut the entire night. It took them like 2 weeks for the FEMA people to get there and there was looting, trash, etc. Some say that St. Croix has never been the same since. :(
