/me carries out Pre-Ride Bicycle Checklist.

Tires:

  • Does your tire pressure fall within the range printed on the sidewall of the tire?
  • Do your tires show excessive wear or have obvious cuts in the casing?
  • Have the tires dried and cracked from weather and aging?

Drive Train:

  • Is your chain clean and lubricated?
  • Are your cables and their housings frayed or split?
  • Do your cables move easily through the housings?
  • Are your shifters and derailleurs clean and properly lubricated? Do they have excessive play or obvious wear?
  • When shifted, does the chain line-up on each of the gears while pedaling?

Brakes:

  • Does the wheel have adequate and equal clearance between the brake pads?
  • Have the brake pads hardened and lost responsiveness from age?
  • Do the pads meet the center of the rim's braking surface when applied?
  • Do the pads show excessive or uneven wear?
  • Do the brakes fully engage when the lever is depressed?

Headset:

  • Are the bearings between your fork and handlebar too loose or too tight?
  • Are the bearing surfaces smooth?

Wheels:

  • Are your wheels in true(straight) and round?
  • Do your spokes feel tight and equally tensioned?
  • Do your wheels spin freely?
  • Are the bearing in your hubs properly adjusted?

Bottom Bracket:

  • Are the bearings between your cranks too loose or too tight?
  • Are the bearing surfaces smooth?

Suspension Hardware:

  • Is your suspension hardware torqued to specifications?
  • (Please do not adjust without proper torque specs. and torque wrench.
