Back in the spring they told the students in my residence hall that they were converting all rooms to triples and making them freshmen only. The building houses 500+ people, and the local Hilton hotel they purchased for $15 million has room for less than 400. And they planned on keeping some of the rooms open to the public to help pay for it.

Compounding the problem is that the university started up a "My Space" program which allows student to form communities based on common interests. While the hotel was made for displaced students, they put priority on those communities which meant even freshmen could get in. My cousin who was a freshman and did not live in the building formed a group of 20 friends and got into the hotel months ago, so I wasn't expecting to get any housing.

I got lucky though, got the second to last room available. Now I won't have to live under the bridge that connects the residence halls to the science buildings. Probably a good thing too since three people were shot today on campus, right on the bridge.

You would have been safe under the bridge. What is it made of, stone?

I believe it's steel, and it offers no protection whatsoever. The road itself is just a hollow grid. Can see straight down to the bottom.

Looks nice. Not comfortable, but there's a nice view with clean water. What more can a man ask for?

They'd have to be quite the shot to hit you from on top of that though!

If you parked a tank under there with adequate bathroom facilities and a good internet connection you would be set up for life :) Mind you that old kids story about the 3 goats, a troll and a bridge springs to mind, =p
